Q:Can polyester carpet be washed?
Its material can't be more common, so how can it not be washed?
Q:PLease help... i havent tried anything yet cuz i dont know if it will ruin the carpet or not.
Hi There is two ways to remove wax from carpet. 1/ Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can .Use a dry clean white terrycloth place it over the wax spot then heat it with a iron on low setting because most homes have polyester carpet, and if the iron gets too hot, it'll melt the carpet. Keep checking the spot every ten seconds or so, moving the terrycloth so that a clean spot is on the carpet. 2/ Which is the better way. Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can Heat up a full kettle of water and pour it slowly on the carpet at the same time with a wet vac vacuum up the water. Keep on doing this until the wax is removed. From a carpet cleaner of 14 years
Q:What is the effect of the carpet?
Good-looking, thermal insulation.
Q:Was looking to buy a rug online from argos but didnt know whether it would be soft or not, prefer a soft rug here is the advert
It's not as soft as wool, but it's nothing as bad as walking on sisal. One thing I don't like about polypropylene is that it becomes matted easily, and it doesn't pop back up when it's vacuumed, like nylon pile rugs do.. Rather, the threads seem to stick together, and if you have to scrub out pet vomit or spilled mashed potatoes, it seems to matt even more. It's a nice-looking rug, and most likely a great price, but I'd keep looking.
Q:Is there some kind of carpeting that won't collect dust deep within its root? We're going to have most of our carpeting changed to laminate because I have HORRIBLE dust allergies, but we want to keep the carpeting in the living room and dining room. Is there some kind of hypo-allergenic carpeting?
I believe Berber carpeting helps with keeping the dust out as well as indoor/outdoor carpeting. Your best bet is to call a carpet store and ask them. May be a little more expensive than the cheap kind. Why don't you get rid of carpet all together and do some area rugs without wool and dust holding carpets. Then you can wash them or take them out side and shake them. Best of luck to you.
Q:I can't seem to find a decorative rug within my budget? What makes them so expensive?
HI, Expensive is a relative term. You need to get more objective here. Being a rug manufacturer in Agra , India ; I feel that my customers (who import the rugs) charge a King;s ransom when they sell a rug made by me to the retailer, but what the retailer charges from the consumer is even more than a Kings ransom. But still, a 100 year old rug going for USD 30,000 will appear cheap to me while a newly made rug of the same size and design going for USD 3000 will appear expensive to me. Yours question asks why are rugs so expensive, the reason behind it is the time, patience , skill and labour that goes behind making each and every one of these timeless beauties. An oriental rug of size 8' x 10' takes upto 4-5 months and 5 weavers to make. Thats a lot of time. A 8x10 rug may have anything between 640K Knots to 1.7 million knots in it depending on its quality. Each knot is tied by hand. IF you take out the price per knot it will be much less than a cent. Each knot takes an average of 7 seconds to tie. Now think, is the price you pay too much when compared to the labour behind the rugs? If you ever happen to come to Agra, call upon me and I will take you to the looms where the rugs are woven. Then you will truly come to appreciate the value of these rugs. Also, in case you want a rug , but the price seems to much, try buying directly from a rug making country like India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey. This way you will be able to cut out the importers retailers margin. You can also order a custom rug based on your size/color/design at no extra cost.
Q:If I were to keep a horse turned out 24/7 in all seasons which rugs would I need?If possible, say where I could layer rugs to minimize buying loads of different kinds. Thanks in advance (:
The bare minimum to keep a horse out all year: 1 x heavy weight winter turnout, with detachable neck. 1 x medium turnout rug, with detachable neck 1 x lightweight turnout, with or without neck 2 x under-rug layer blankets for really cold or in between days. That should be fine, in the deepest darkest winter you can put on your heavyweight with neck and under rugs, when it gets a little warmer you can just put on the heavyweight with no neck, the autumn/early spring you can use the medium, on extra cold nights put on the under rugs, and then when you get to summer you can use your lightweight. Other rugs: Incase your horse ever needs to be stabled, i'd get 1 x medium stable rug. 1 x fly rug/sheet for the summer Also, you might want a cooler fleece that your horse can wear to cool off after exercise etc You can also use a cooler as a travel rug/show rug, or you could buy another one. You may want an exercise sheet, to wear while riding, this will keep your horse warm and dry :) Never put rugs (apart from a cooler) on a sweaty/rained on/wet horse, because he will get a serious chill. If you get in from riding and he's really sweaty/wet, either put the cooler on under the turnout rug, or walk him around for 10 mins till he dries off, and then put on your turnout rugs. If you're on a really tight budget, and you don't ride to compete, and your horse is quite a sturdy, hardy type, you could probably get by with 1 heavyweight and 1 medium turnout, nothing else.
Q:I bought a kitchen rug from Jcpenny's last year some time and it is dirty now and doesn't look nice, so I was wondering how often do you have to replace kitchen rugs?
if it doesn't look nice, then u must go n buy new one. go ahead.
Q:I have a carpet shampooer, and I'm doing my spring cleaning, and my carpets are off white, and as you can imagine they get quite dingy, especially in winter when people are walking in snow. I have quite a lot of traffic dirt and random spots. I've not been impressed in the past with the shampoo that came with my machine. Could I use oxiclean in my machine to brighten my carpets?
this isnt a good idea.. Oxiclean is an optical brightener and most home machines dont have the suction to remove all the soap or cleaner once applied and that is why carpets get dingy so quick due to the soap residue and probably like most people recommended is good more is better right? all that added soap dint get pulled out by the machine so it is left to dry in a sticky mess.. using oxiclean and your carpet color Im afraid if sunlight hits it it will turn it kind of an off green color. What I do for my carpets I run vinegar and water. mainly and then spot spray with the cleaner.. depending on the carpets age and material what you are seeing as dirt and dingy may be wear patterns and those will never be removed.
Q:I just recently moved and the carpet in the bedroom is brown. I don't have the money to replace it, but I would like to brighten it. I can tell at one point it was a very dark brown and has lightened up over time. I would like to know how to darken it without having to replace it yet. Is there a way to darken it?
I would use a large throw rug.
