Q:hello,i have lots of 8 gauge wire resting at my closet. And i'm very interested on doing the big 3 upgrade to my 2000 mitsubishi eclipse gt. May i see any improvement with 8 gauge wire?...i know that at least 4 gauge is recommended...but i dont want to spend money.
Go cheap, get cheap. Improvement, maybe. But heres a secenario: current draw exceeds capacity of 8 gauge wire, insulation melts, positive wire grounds out, lots of smoke, fire.... no wait... FIRE! Oh s**t that's gonna cost me..... (a lot more than 4 gauge wire I'll bet...)
Q:i have an amp (sony xm 2002gtr) that says it requires 4 gauge wire..but they cost $100+ and i have plenty of 8 gauge wires. can i use two 8 gauge wires as a substitute for one 4 gauge wire?and also, i have my capacitor grounded to unpainted metal of my car AND the ground port of my amp..is that incorrect?
Two 8-gauge wires combined are equal to a 5-gauge wire, but that should be close enough for that amp. Make sure each wire has its own fuse near the battery; 40-amp fuses would be a good choice. If you capacitor is connected to ground, and your amp is grounded, then you don't really need a wire between the capacitor's ground terminal and the amp's ground terminal. It doesn't hurt anything, though. If the only ground wire at the amp is the one that runs to the capacitor, then you're better off connecting the amp ground directly to chassis metal.
Q:I've had my subs wired up for a while but want to see if there is a more efficient way to do it. Hardware: Sony Xplod 800w amp bridgeable amp - What's the best way to wire these up to get the most volume?
wire the voice coils to series on each sub and then wire the subs in parallel to the amp and voila.
Q:I connected my wires in the morning and something aint righti put two wires incorrect but i dont see it... can some oneput them together for me cuz i really cant see where i did wrongmaybe some one else will find it ...
are you connecting this to an after market deck/stereo? well if so, it would have been a MILLION times easier to not cut the wires and just get a wiring harness, no need to cut any wires or anything... all you need to do is connect the wiring harness to the car stock stereo harness then plug it into the back of the deck so put your wires back to how they were, and get a wiring harness lol, only 5-20bucks i got mine for 5 off the internet.. my brother got his for 15 from wal-mart and they have them at best buy for around 20
Q:Which wire is quot;hot, white or black?
Usually, most Fire Alarm wiring is color-coded red and black. FPL and other fire alarm cables are usually red/black for a 2 conductor cable. If a system is wired class 1, with THHN conductors in conduit, I have seen both black and white used as the positive lead. The electricians who wire it are likely to use whatever convention they are used to. If they deal with low voltage, they could use white for + and black for -. If they are high voltage electricians, they could do the opposite. The AC service, (120V or 240V) will be wired per National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), which is black = line, white = neutral.
Q:Not the wire from RadioShack, but the really thin stuff used in modded circuit boards, logic circuits, low power circuits, etc.
This Site Might Help You. RE: Where can you buy really thin electrical wire? Not the wire from RadioShack, but the really thin stuff used in modded circuit boards, logic circuits, low power circuits, etc.
Q:I wanna know how does the temperature affect the resistance of the wire.
Cold decreases the resistance. Anything becomes more stable with cold temp. which calms down atoms so they are more condensed or alligned which allows easier conductivity of electricity. You computer chips uses materials whose atoms are already condensed or alligned to carry these 'messages'. Research shows atoms' basic properties can be altered with extreme cold temperatures.
Q:From my ceiling fan I have the following wires: green, white, blue and blackFrom my ceiling I have a bunch of wire in each of these colours: brown, red and orange.Which wires do I connect with each other??
These are all probably hot-side wires. If you have the knowledge and the tools, find out which wire or wires is/are hot in the box with the switch off. If you have no idea what I am talking about, you REALLY need to find someone who knows electricity. BTW, the wires in the fan are quite simple to decode. The green wire is the ground and attaches to either the box or a ground wire in the box. The white wire is the neutral and attaches to the white wires in the box. The black is the hot lead for the fan and the blue is the hot lead for the light. These two can be combined if you have only one wall switch. Where they attach in the box will be determined by which hot lead is switched. I can probably guess how the box and switch are wired but I may be wrong and that would be dangerous. Call an electrician so you don't burn your house down.
Q:im installing an amp and i have no clue what to do with thw power wire.... I read to cut open my steros power wire (usually the blue) and wrap my power wire around it... I found the blue wire but there was a tag... Caution Remote output only... This is not the wire for power supply. please connect this wire to the remote for the amplifier... Does this mean i just connect this wire directly to my amp?
ok wait hold up. so the only wire that should be hooked from the amp to the headunit is your speaker wires, remote turn on wire, and your rca cables. ....What you need to do is get the power cable(usually red) run it from positive on the battery to the POS on your amp. next put your ground wire from the GND on the amp to bare metal on your cars chasis.
Q:i am hooking up a wiring harness on a 2000 ford ranger and cant figure out the wires to hook up and what they are
you need to buy the harness for that particular truck, there's a plug already there for it, if you start hacking into wires you'll have more problems than you can believe. and I'm not going to explain it here, just trust me, there like $20 bucks and will save you a world of headaches.
