Q:What are some paint removers that doesn't damage plastic?
It depends on both the plastic and the paint. Most spray paints cannot be easily removed from plastic, but if it's the right kind of plastic, you can put nearly any solvent on it. The best approach is to start with the less aggressive ones, like mineral spirits and goo-gone, and apply a little solvent to a spot that doesn't show. Let it sit there in a drop for a few seconds and wipe it off. If it leaves a hazy or sticky spot, then that solvent will definitely dissolve the plastic. If it wipes cleanly off, it's probably safe to try. If you have no luck you can move on to methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), acetone, and even gasoline, but these are the ones that melt most plastics. If it's a copolymer or resin, then you might be okay with just about any kind of solvent.
Q:Where can I find some more plastic?
Plastic emits toxic chemicals, including dioxin, when burned. Also, I believe it is illegal to burn plastic in certain areas. Please, for your own safety and that of others, do not burn plastic.
Q:Aluminum or plastic steering block for my traxxas stampede?
If you don't mind replacing it once in a while go for the cheap one.
Q:My cat loves plastic bags!!!!?
Not an expert, but doesn't sound like it is a good idea to let the cat do that. Maybe you should take the cat to the vet or ring and ask the vet to make sure there is no need for getting the cat checked out. Cats like boxes - maybe you could give the cat an appropriatley sized box, or a toy on some yarn or something else to do instead. Maybe the cat is hungry or missing out on some trace elements or something like that? If you know why the cat eats the bags, that might help too (might be a stupid thought, but it is not hungry, is it?). The vet might have heard of this before and know some good ways of addressing this. Another thought is, get paper bags or use some of the green reusable shopping bags instead. Good luck.
Q:Can chemicals seep into plastic containers?
Yes. I think I read it somewhere once that it can.
Q:Poor mans way of making plastic?
You can't make true plastic, but you can buy various plastics that can be shaped or even find some of them around the house. Some of those would be polymer clay (a raw-plastic clay like Premo, Fimo, etc), and thermplastics like ShapeLock or Polymorph or Friendly Plastic or sheets of medical plastic for making casts/etc, or you could soften other kinds of plastic so that they could be bent into tubes or other shapes. Why don't you come back with more info about exactly what you want to make, how wide the tubes need to be and how thick, how strong, how smooth, etc.,etc.
Q:How can I dye plastic parts?
You can paint or otherwise finish the surface, but dyes to color plastic are put in the plastic BEFORE it is molded.
Q:Paper or Plastic.....?
ok this is a hard question after all . plastic pollute nature drastically and paper cut off a lot of trees!! the reusable ones r the best but i prefer paper although it hurts trees but we can replant trees in the place of others ( although it will take years) plastic is very hazardous. its chemicals are poisinous and when burnt they cause a lot of pollution. Please i adress this to everyone and i no this is a little hard to carry a reusable bag to the grocery or supermarket every time but try to and save the nature for ur future and ur childrens future. thnx
Q:why use plastic canvas yarn?
This is one time that I recommend Red Heart Supersaver Yarn. It is fantastic for working with plastic canvas: It's thick, wear-resistant, and holds its shape.* It comes in a ton and a half of colors, so you can find whatever color or blend your heart desires including sparkly ones. It's cheap. The only drawback is, if you just need a little bit of a color, you will have a lot of yarn leftover. Then, use plastic canvas yarn. *I made plastic canvas/Supersaver Christmas tree ornaments in 1991 that have been used on trees by 5 families every year since and stored in a variety of attics and unheated garages between holidays. They still look new.
Q:What is the packaging plastic?
If it's the film, it's most likely shrink wrap made from polyolefin or PVC (polyvinyl chloride).
