Q:while changing a lighting fixture i accidently pulled out the white wire while trying to strip it of the three caps in the electrical box im not sure which one it goes intheres a cap with two black wires and one white running too it another cap with three white wire running two it and a cap with a black wire running too it and the other black wire goes too the fixture which one of these caps do the white wire that connects too the fixture belong in?
Hi There, The white wire (pigtail) that was pulled loose needs to be connected to the other white wires inside the box. . After that connect the black pigtail (that is hanging loose) and white pigtail to the eterminals on the light fixture. Hope that helps, Al
Q:I recently got a new dishwasher. My hubby and I are in the middle of installing, and are to the point of hooking it back up to the electricity. The cord that we have has 2 black wires, one is smooth the other ribbed, then on the dishwasher, we have a black, white, and green(ground). Which wires do I hook up to which?(cord) black smooth black ribbed (dishwasher)blackwhitegreen(ground)
if its an american appliance there should be a black and white wire if the appliance is european then the ribbed black is the white wire and the smooth black is the black again I dont know what brand of appliance your working with and so on... It should also tell you in the instructions for the dishwasher... and if you dont have the instructions you should be able to get them for free from the appliance website...
Q:(For my PC)I want to have a quadrophonic speakers (4 channels), but i want to extend 2 speakers, but their wires are limited and cant extend enough to reach my rear? what should i do?is it as simple as, cut the speaker wires and extend it with a common copper wire that you mostly found on most appliance you found on your home?
Yea ive tried extending and cutting the coper wires, this situation has its faults if you decide to do it this way so id suggest just grabbing another at a local shop or OKorder.
Q:I am hooking up a subwoofer in my 01' civic and i cant figure out where the remote wire from the amp connects to in the back of my new headunit. Do i need a wiring harness? any help would be appreciated thanks
The remote wire is almost always the blue one. If it is an aftermarket deck that has never had a amp installed, the remote wire shouldn't be connected to anything and should always be blue. If your using a stock headunit it may not even have one, the best thing u can do is connect the remote from your amp to something that will only work after the ignition is turned on, if your not sure wat wire is doing what, to test them simply join both power wires from your deck together (the red and yellow wires), and connect the ground wire (black) to any metal earthed to ur cars body, just touch the joined power wires from your deck to any wires close by with ur ignition turned on until you get power to your headunit, then turn the ignition off if ya lose power to the deck then u can just connect the remote from your amp to that. While checking the wires the worst that can happen is a blown fuse, so just have a spare 10amp fuse or two just in case. I hope that helped ya out. gl.
Q:I like bending paperclips to make things, does anyone know where you could buy spools of the wire paperclips are made out of.(any type of wire that is the same size and material will work)
For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/axqI3 No, I am afraid you can't ... you need a special alloy, not paper clips, which are mild steel.
Q:We added an AC to a preexisting sx 80 furnace and we are having a hard time wiring the new thermostat to the furnace, and the condensor to the furnace. Anyone know how to get a wiring diagram?? thanks

Q:what is the best wire to use for a chainmail
Costume or 'Historically Correct'? You can buy soft iron or aluminum wire in any gauge you can 'knit'. ( 14 is about right for Al., 16 for iron.)
Q:If not, then, in experiments, why must a wire always be straight?
no, not really, perhaps a fraction of a percent if the cross-section narrows down at the bend. And wires can be any shape in an experiment. Who told you they had to be straight? I once told kids in a lab that you used the striped wires for AC and the solid colored ones for DC. A few believed me.
Q:I recently Hooked a newer Pioneer cd player up in my 00 mustang gt!.. it will not keep memory. The only way it will come on is when the red(power) is hooked up with the Yellow wire!.. but this way it will not hold a memory.. theres a few orange wires but i have hooked them up and it still wont keep memory? any suggestions?
When wiring the Red and Yellow together, the radio will have constant power to it at all times. Try to rewire it so they aren't wired together so it doesn't keep on at all times, and as far as the memory issue, I suggest calling Pioneer, there could be a problem with the actual head unit.
Q:So I know that the neutral wire is the 'return wire'. But why does my textbook say that it has the potential to have the same amount of electricity as the live wire (if the wiring is faulty)? But essentially, if the wiring is not faulty it is technically safe to touch it, it has 0 volts.Could someone explain this to me?
The electricity supply mains has three wires. They are called Live, Neutral and Earth The Live wire is connected directly to the generators of the electricity supply company. NEVER touch this wire, it carries 230 Volts and can kill you!! The Neutral wire returns the electricity to the generator after it has passed through the appliance, to complete the circuit. The Neutral wire is at approximately zero volts but you must NEVER touch this wire either!! If the wiring is faulty it may be carrying the same electricity as the Live wire. The Earth wire usually carries no electricity, it is there as a safety device. If something in the appliance goes wrong, or it is wired incorrectly, then the Earth wire may be carrying the same electricity as the Live wire. To be completely safe, NEVER touch this wire either!!
