Q:Is lime wire any good????

If your looking for a basic file sharing program Lime wire is a good choice. But be careful! Make sure you have a descent anti-virus program. Also some things that come up when you search for something are not what the title say they are. I found one item that is 1,050 kilobytes that has many different names on it, last I counted it had 23 different names and it is a pain to get rid of and stop. Wired networks are always more secure because they're not advertising themselves to the world; e.g. you need to have physical access to connect to a wired network. Wireless networks can be secure; but the fact of the matter is they're advertised to any passer-by and are susceptible to having their keys cracked.

Q:I am changing an outside light with a inside wall switch there is 2 cables going to the outside box. ( 3 wires -white w/red line wire and black wire and green ground wire ) other cable 3 wires is white wire and black wire and green ground wire.On the inside switch is 3 wires white wire a black wire a green ground wire.for some reason it is not working, can any one tell me how to wire and or test for power. thank you

In a normal 120V system you will have Black(hot) White( neutral) Green or bare copper(ground). So the green wire are wired together with a pig tail to the ground on the switch (if grounded) the white wire, if neutral, should be wired together also and no connection to the switch. The black wire should be wired to the switch and the other black wire to the other side or pole of the switch. But I think you are wiring to an existing switch, meaning it controls another light already. In that case the three wires will be White(hot) Black(to the existing light) green or bare copper (ground). To find out check the switch wires white to ground If you get 120V on the white that means you do not have a neutral at the switch, or what is commonly called light wiring. With out a neutral the out side light will not work. So you have to pull wire to the switch to get a neutral. Good Luck.

Red white yes, shouldn't need the toggle. It will turn off with the ignition.

Q:Currently I have the two wires no ground wire and some two wire with ground outlets (upgrade some time before). Is it allowed in the NEC to run a separate ground wire from one of the two wire with ground outlet to the two wire outlet without changing the old wires?

It is acceptable to run a separate ground to each box, but like Rusty said, if the wiring to the boxes is BX (flexible metal) or conduit, and the boxes are metallic, then your chances are pretty good that they're already grounded. A GFCI isn't a cure all, and will only work if it has it's own ground. It must also be properly wired to protect downstream outlets.

Q:Connecting a Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD to a 2008 Kia Sorento. I have connected the wire harness to the back of the stereo by matching each color. My issue is I have 2 wires left on each side.I have a blue wire on the wire harness, and on the stereo side I have a blue/white wire that says system remote start. Do these 2 need to go together, even though they are different color scheme, yet both are blue?Same thing with the orange wire on the harness, and I have an orange/white on the stereo, do these two need to be connected?Thanks!

The blue wire is a power antenna wire. If your car does not have a power antenna you do not need to connect this wire. If you do have one, the blue/ white wire from the stereo will work if it does not have a solid blue wire. The orange wires should be connected together. That wire dims the display on your stereo at night when you turn on the headlights.

Q:I bought a single pole dimmer switch to install in my dining room and when I took the old switch out nothing looked right. There are two wires which were joined together by another single wire which was attached to the top screw. There was another single wire (I believe the ground wire) attached to the bottom screw. I disconnected the first two wires and attached them separately to the black wires on the dimmer and attached the ground wires together. It didn't work. I've tired several different times with no luck. I put the wires back the way they were and attached them to the old switch and they no longer work ether. Help! How can I fix this problem? The old wires appear to be a very thick copper covered in black plastic and cloth.....

The green wire is ground. In a house that old, probably the best thing you can do with it is to connect it right to the steel box. Look for a screw you can loosen and wrap the green wire under it. Retighten. If there are only two other wires from the switch, you should connect one to the black wire and one to the white wire. I don't know why your first dimmer fried. This is a perfectly normal hookup. It should even be illustrated on the packaging for the dimmer, or in the instructions.

IF THE FAN ALSO HAS A LIGHT, IT IS EITHER THE BLUE OR BLACK ONE. aLSO CALLED THE HOT WIRES. THE HOT WIRES IN THE CEILING SHOULD BE THE BLACK AND RED ONES.YOU NEED TO FIND WHICH ONE IS HOT WHEN THE FAN OR LIGHT SWITCH IS TURNED ON. THE WHITE WIRES ARE TO BE CONNECTED TOGETHER. THE GREEN FAN WIRE AND CEILING GROUND WIRES ARE TO BE CONNECTED.DON'T KNOW WHY 2 GREEN WIRES IN CEILING ALSO.

Q:Hey there, so my cat chewed through some of my wires, what should I do to like fix them?

I am assuming the wires your talking about are the cords for appliances, lamps or what have you. And the type that you have to plug into your wall. You can as another post mentioned wrap the wire with black electrical tape if both side of the wire arn't touching. Or you can go to your local ACE hardware store and a floor associate would be more than happy to show you the items available for repairing or replacing the chewed wires. One of my cats started doing the same thing so I gathered the excess wire and tied it into a small bundle with a wire tie and the cat quit chewing them.
