Q:I have a question about insulating wires?
Insulated wires is commonly used for current carrying electrical wires. There is a cover of insulating material over the copper or aluminium wire which saves us from electric shock , short circuit etc. However, you are using the term insulating wires in the context of thermal insulation. There are so many thermal insulating materials as used in refrigerators and other applications but they are not in the shape of wires.
Q:AC adapter power wire broken?
Only try to fix it if it is on the lptop side, DON't play with A/C power unless you're qualified. If it is on the safe voltage side you could cut the wire, strip back the wires about 1cm, and twist them together, then solder the wires. Before you join them slide a small piece of heatshrink over one side of it, then after joining and soldering the wires wrap a small amount of electrical tape around the bare wires then slide the heatshrink over it all and heat it up to enclose it all, Fixed ! There are three switches that control the light? Remove the cover for those switches and check what color wiring is connected to them. If you have 3 blacks, two could be power to the switches, and the other is line voltage from the panel. The red could be a runner for a 3 pole switch. Whites are neutrals. Trial and error unless you start tracing out wires.
Q:If i have 16 gauge speaker wire and i double it when wiring speakers will that make it 8 gauge?
18 gauge wire is pretty much standard for speakers. The only reason for a bigger gauge cable would be for a subwoofer setup. The connectors are pretty good actually. Have you ever noticed that the more you mess with a wire the more you have to cut it, re-strip it, and re-connect it? The connectors will eliminate that potential problem.

we know that the power = i^2 *r where i : is the current through the wire. r : is the equivalent resistance of the current. so this power will be consumed in the wire in form of heat, so if the resistance of any wire increase, the absorbed power will increase. Also we know the resistance of any wire = * l / a where : - = constant, the resistivity of the matter ( copper, aluminum,... ). - l = the length of the wire. - a = cross section of area of the wire. as the length of the wire increase, the resistance will increase, so the power will increase, this lead to increase of the heat in the wire.
