Q:I have two white wires left...one is a speaker wire and the other is the constant 12v wire and I don't know which is which. They are the same thickness so unless one of you guys know I'm pretty much screwed here. Also, I have a black ground wire sticking out of the wiring harness and the ground wire from my stereo harness doesn't look like they should attach to each other. This is my first install and I've got everything else hooked up. Just need some pointers.

Hello there George, It has become common over the past few years that non-residential boilers are wired with EPO (emergency, power off) switches just outside each door to the boiler room. This is similar to having fire alarm pull boxes by the exits. I do not know of any jurisdiction that requires it for a residence. On occassion I've seen the 24 volt circuit for the thermostat being switched, which is a bit sketchy. Normally the 120 volt circuit for the controller is switched. The switches used are of the pushbutton type.

On AC it's black is hot and white is nuteral and on DC its black is nuteral and red is hot so be careful and don't get killed. P.S. AC stands for alternating current and DC stands for direct current, now go learn what makes them diffrent and also learn who nicoli tessla is and don't stop learning! Oh yea, while the AC unit is turned on the nuteral wire will be hot so don't touch it because the excited electrons are seeking ground so they will travel through the white wire to ground or through you!

the fan has a blue and black wire each is a switch leg one to the light and one to the fan..the switch has a feed usually darker color and two switch leg wires. the hot incoming wire feeding the switch goes on the feed wire and the two switch legs go on the other terminals. if this does not solve the problem you must have the fan wired wrong...

I never had a problem with it though. If you really want to download songs, get firefox download helper plugin and go on youtube site and download the flv file. Then download flv extractor and just extract the audio. Much safer. Virus or no virus depends on what you download. songs should be fine in my opinion

it just depends on your application, take for example your house has either solid 12 gauge or 14 gauge copper wire. solid copper has less resistance and can handle more amperage compared to say a stranded 12 or 14 gauge wire. you wouldnt wire your vehicle with solid wire would you? i mean theres no point, you dont need the amperage and the resistance of the wire is negligent here due to that fact there is not any long distances in your vehicle, plus it would be a pain to wire a vehicle with solid copper wire. in AC voltage they sometimes use square rectangular wire due to the fact that ac voltage travels on the outside of wire, rather than threw the entire middle, so a square wire offers more surface area.

Q:US electrical tech question from a non electrically minded fag. I have a dimmer controlling a light and a single light switch controlling a fan. There is one blue wire going to the dimmer and one blue wire going to the switch. There is one black wire going to a 2nd terminal on the switch, which is also connected to a 2nd wire leading to the 2nd terminal on the dimmer. Buy a cheap 110 volt test light from Ace Hardware or Home Depot to identify whether the blue wires or the black wire supply electricity TO the switch and dimmer ( which is a switch as well). Once you have found out which one is hot all the time it is the supply, next you will need to get a wire from the switch location to where you want the new outlet to be. You will use a piece of 14/2 Romex cable containing 3 wires ( one black, one white, one bare). Install the wire in the new box, hooking the black wire to the gold screw, the white wire to the silver screw, and the bare wire to the green screw on the bottom of the outlet. At the switch location you have determined which wire is hot and the black wire is joined to that using a pair of pliers and a plastic wire nut, the white wire is joined in the same way to the white wires at the rear of the switch box, and the bare wire is joined in the same way to the bare wires at the rear of the box. You can now turn the electricity back on and your new outlet will be hot. If you are not up to the test, contact a local licensed electrician to have this easy job done for you. Expect to pay under $75 if you hire one.
