Q:Can I just use a black pad on my buffer to remove old crappy wax on floors, or do you HAVE to use a stripping solution...in other words, can you use the black pad on a dry floor?? Thanks!
use the stripping chemical. It breaks down the wax. put the solution down and let it work and use your black pad. make sure you rinse the floor very well.
Q:I am considering having Karndean flooring fitted in my living room, does anyone have this? It's the wooden floor full plank design that I am interested in. What exactly is it, does it look good, is it hard wearing, are there any negatives points about it?
Knight Planks are laminated vinyl planks that look just like planks of wood. I had it laid to my gamesroom kitchen dinning and entry 2 months ago. It looks great just like real wood flooring and it is easy as to clean. The only I found out after I had it laid was it actually needs to be cut and polished after being laid (Carpet Hotline didnt actually include it in the price grrrr) you can do this yourself but the cost of the products is not cheap or have a professional who uses Karndean products to do it for you (this is what I did and it was a 3rd of the price of doing it myself) The only other thing you need to really consider is if you have pets especially dogs that live inside as it is very slippery for them and they have a lot of trouble walking on it, mine had so much trouble I ended up buying foam anti slip matting to run through the house so she can get around.
Q:The winter is dry, the weather is dry! Ready to use humidifier, I would like to ask the wood floor hurt? Note: home floor is just installed, peace of mind wood floor. The This brand will not be Alice ah! More
It should not be it.
Q:1. Name 2 rules used in the game of Floor Hockey?2. Name 3 skills (not fitness related) needed to play Floor Hockey?3. Name 1-2 strategies needed to be successful in a game of Floor Hockey?
1. a) When goalie covers puck, give him 5 feet of space to pass the puck out b) keep stick below shoulders, high sticking the ball down results in automatic penalty shot 2. a) good hand eye coordination (for the ball/puck seems to bounce around a lot more often in floor hockey) b) ability to protect the ball (with limited to no contact, it's easier to keep the ball away from other players) c) quick shot 3. a) depending on how many players you have out there, if it's 5, then strategies that you get from ice hockey can also apply to floor hockey - if it's four, then have 2 forwards and 2 defence, it's easier to play a defensive style for you have a higher ratio of D - FW - if it's three, then have 2 forwards and 1 defence, it's easier to play an offensive style for you have a higher ratio of FW - D Same basic strategies apply, get traffic in front, pass the ball around to gain some space, and get the ball to the net as often as possible.
Q:Hello, I have recently purchased the nexus vinyl floor tiles and would like to know if these tiles or their backing contain asbestos? Also, is it okay to install them over existing vinyl floor tiles? I would truly appreciate your help with my concerns!
Everything rob said. I would take it a step further and suggest that you add more adhesive to the project. In a year or two you'll have tiles popping off of the floor, from the poor quality of self sticking adhesive they use on those tiles. Take 10 minutes and look into VCT installation, drawing your square lines, etc. Go to Lowe's or something, get 1 or 2 small pales of pressure sensitive tile glue (buy extra, take one back later), a paint roller, and a cheap 3/8 nap roller cover and a cheap pole. Next step....Get your floor prepped, and swept up well, chaulk lines drawn in with pencil, find your starting point... now read the instructions on the glue(this is important), and then you can paint the floor with the glue. Not too much, not too little, but evenly. And don't make your tile starting point inaccessible after the gluing :) Glue half the room at a time if needed. This is going to keep your tiles from popping up in the future, and ALL of those self stick tiles do, IF you don't re-enforce the adhesion. (don't use a trowel to put the extra glue on, you will see the fingers of the glue through the thin tile. the paint roller keeps everything smooth) (guys like rob want you to buy a new floor every two years :) )
Q:I have vinyl 12"by12" tiles that I am putting on concrete floor Henry 430 vinyl composition tile adhesive. The concrete floor is not perfectly even. In some places the gap could be as much as 1/8". I am trying to use the adhesive glue to fill this gap. Will this work? Can I use the glue to make my floor more even to put the tiles on. Thank you.
You need to float the floor to make it flat. Do NOT use extra adhesive. It will never dry and will come up between the tiles for years. Use any good brand of float, Henry has one. Sand after it drys for a completely smooth floor. A pro installer will spend MORE time with the prep than the installing.
Q:is it like from the bottom: floor joist, sub floor, cement board, tiles? or what?
When you got plywood floor or any wood floor and you want install tiles, you have first install cement boards with liquid nail and screws.
Q:My vinyl floor is loosing it's luster and I would like to refinish it, not replace it. Is there a product I can use to restore it's shine
When my Armstrong floor was installed I read that they sold a product that you could apply after time if the floor lost its shine. There are also floor waxes that go on fairly easy that give a good shine as well if you can't find a product compatible with your floor. Look at a do-it-yourself building supply store that sells floors like yours.
Q:How thick must the floor be over the joists? Does the thickness include the floor covering (tile)?
I'm not a contractor or am I familiar with anything regarding New York but I am familiar with floor installation. I do know however that floor covering be it tile carpet or whatever does not include the thickness of the floor. I would also imagine that most building codes for floor thickness, would be at least 1/2 inch plywood over the floor joist. Also with ceramic tile,it is not recommended that it is installed on only one layer of plywood over the joist. You need 2 sheets or installed over the existing wood plus a cement board
Q:Is dance flooring that plastic floor stuff, linoleum??Is it the same thing, or something else?Because I want to buy some cheap floor that is suitable for dancing on, maybe even the same as the ones they have in dance studios.Do you know:a) What dance floor is?b) Can you buy it cheap?c) Is there any flooring similar?d) Where can you buy them from?Thank you xx
Linoleum would work for a while but won't last long on a dance floor. Most dance floors are hardwood, seamless tile or vinyl sheathing and none of it is cheap. Building supply stores would have whatever you decide on or could order it for you.
