- sofas vary in size so you would have do all the measurements of the sofa and door. and sometimes you can just manipulate the sofa and make it fit. if you really have trouble i would suggest taking of the door frames and then you wouldn't of to much trouble.
- Q:I have a friend that is becoming a Contractor at a base in Japan. He asked me if he could become a permanent resident of Japan. In case anyone doesn't know what SOFA status means it is the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). I'm am wondering if there is anyone on this forum that has done it before? I have read in previous answers that you must live at Japanese addresses for five years. I'm not sure working for the US Goverment would count. I don't think he is going to marry a Japanese national as well. Can anyone that has done this chime in please? Thanks
- MY understanding of SOFA would mean that once he obtained residency status, he would no longer be eligable for SOFA as he would no longer be a US resident. Japan, to my knowledge, does not allow dual residency, so I believe he would need to choose. Only American citizens working in a foreign country, directly employed by the US government or an authorized contractor are eligable for SOFA status.
- Q:I cannot beleive my asking a question about sofa cushions but here I go. We have a perfectly fine sofa. However, we just tried to wash one of the sofa seat covers and the zipper broke. Now, we cannot fit the seat cover back on the foam cushion. It is an older sofa but it is decent shape. I do not want to reupholster the whole couch or replace the foam cushion. I just need to purchase one seat cover. I have no idea even where to begin. Does anyone know where I can purchase couch seat covers?
- If it's an older sofa, as you said, you'll never find a replacement. Other than a new sofa, re-upholstering or slipcovers are your only option. By the way, the zipper could be replaced.Just because cushions have zippers, they shouldn't be washed, as you found out.
- Q:I need to find a way for a couple of very expensive hand-me-down sofas to stop moving on the marble floor. They have small wheels and scoot around the room when you get up. The wheels are not very easy to remove and will change the sofa height!Anyone know of a solution?
- First, if you just stop the wheels from rolling, the sofa will still move on the marble floor and scrape the floor. Here is what to do. First get some rubber casters to place under each leg, preferable ones with sides to it. This will protect the floor. Second, stop the wheel from rolling by taking some folded paper and stuffing it into the wheel at the top so it jams the wheel and it can't roll.
- Q:Long story short....a leather sofa and chair was left on a backporch and was rained on.What is going to happen to the leather once it dries? Is it ruined or can it be treated and look decent again?Any information is greatly appreciated.
- It depends how good the leather is if it will dry and crack. Allow the sofa and chair to dry naturally don't use any heat. If there is no cracking buy some mink oil from a shoe repair store and apply to leather to resoften it up. If the colour has came out patchy you can also buy a shoe dye and recolour the sofa. - Q:My cat keeps scratching the sofa but not the scratching post! She doesn't even touch the post but she always scratches the sofa. If I put catnip on the post she just snifs it for a minute or two and walks away! If I show her she won't listen. What should I do to get her to scratch the darn post!
- Whenever your cat scratches the sofa, punish her, perhaps with a squirt of water from a squirt bottle and an angry tone of voice. Then move her to the scratching post so she knows thats where she should be. This may take a while to become effective since it is a habit to scratch on the sofa.

- Q:I have an ikea klippan sofa, and i'm getting the 'natural' cover for it. My other sofa is an ikea ektorp, and the only new cover i can afford for this is the white one. Will the 2 sofas look good together? Or should i get the klippan white cover instead of beige?I can't picture them together to see if they'll match! I prefer the cream/beige to white covers though. Could i maybe dye the ektorp cover to match the natural beige klippan do you think?Any help would be great. Thank you!
