Q:my old light fixture had 2 white wires (from ceiling) twisted together and connected to a screw, it also had a green wire (from ceiling)connected to it with a screw.no black wires were connected to light fixture although they are 3 wires in the ceiling taped off together.how do i test for hot wire, i got a tester that lights up.i got a new light fixture that has 3 wires, 1 wht 1blk and copper.i know the copper goes with green, white with white and black with black. so i untangled the black wires, and i connected one to new light.but now my new light doesnt turn off.so i know i by passed my switch.how do i test for hot wire....where does the hot wire go?is it possible one of the white wires is my hot wire and the other white whire my neutral....so help please, im confused and frustrated
get a voltage tester and test all the wires to th ground wire with the switches on that should let you know what is hot
Q:My dad is trying to wire a electric cook top...it has three wires (black, red, and copper). His junction box has four wires (black, red, white and copper). He first wired the black to black, red to red and copper to copper, he capped the white wire in the junction box. The cook top did not work. Then he connected the white wire with the two copper wires, and the cook top now works. So the question is will this connection work or will it cause a problem? And if it causes a problem what can he do to resolve it?
so it is new already == call the 800 number that is with the paperwork and ask the customer service to give you an explanation and email a wiring diagram ... best way to fix and have safety ...
Q:having a difficult time finding a wire for my remoter starter
The white wire to the coil is the tach wire. If you have the 4.3L,there is a white wire with a black tracer from the ignition control module to the coil. If that doesn't help,on the PCM,in the red connector, terminal 10 is the tach wire from the PCM to the Instrument cluster, this wire is also white.
Q:trying to find the radio wiring diagram for my suburban to find out where all my speaker wires are .

Q:I want wired internet on my xbox and was wondering if you need a wired router or can u just us a modem?
a router wired or wireless is not necessary, but it's useful if you have a computer.if you only connect your console, plug your ethernet cable from your modem to your console
Q:I have a 98' F-150 and need to add a 4 flat trailer wire connector to it. What all do I need to do? Is their a special connector?
go to your local auto parts store and ask the counter guy about trailer wiring. he should show you the right stuff
Q:Can you swap out a 1984 Porsche 944 wiring harness with a different car's wiring harness? If which car. Thank you.
You can order a new 944 wiring harness, but it is a lot of work. Much easier is to just get a good manual with a wiring diagram, and replace only the damaged wires, splicing at little as possible, as you go. I assume you just have some heat cracked wires, unless you had a fire or something? You can't take the harness from another car because all the connectors are going to be the wrong type, gender, or location. Especially things like the brainbox harness plug, etc.
Q:ok got the mute wire figured out thanks to yahoo answers people..now i was wondering what the [ ILL] WIRE IS FOR ,ILLUMINATOR FOR SOMETHING?..also which wires on the speaker wires are pos and neg one is solid ,one is solid with stripe..not sure which is pos or neg thanks alot steve
ILL wire is for illumination. is for the dimmer wire from your aftermarket harness (enables the radio to dim with the rest of the interior lights when you turn your headlights or parking lights on). this wire is not required to be hooked up for the unit to fully operate as some vehicles may not have the proper 12v dimmer wire. The speaker wires that are solid in color (white, Grey, green, purple) are positive (+) and the wires with a solid color and a stripe is negative (-).
Q:the quot;rite-tempthermostat was ripped from the wall, and the brown wire, and red wires - both not labled are disconnected...where do they connect? please help....rite-temp thermostat model 8050c
The Green wire generally is fan The red wires are hot to the AC and Heater The yellow wire is AC The white wire is common. Brown may be used for AC instead of red Hook the Green to the G terminal The Red wire to the Rh terminal The brown wire, I believe is Rc terminal White to W OR c (HOW EVER IT'S LABELED) Yellow to Y
Q:I purchased a wiring harness to install an aftermarket receiver in my 2000 Chevy Cavalier, also. I have lost the insert that came with the harness and as such I am at a loss as to how to wire my receiver to the harness.help
For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/awmrK It might help if you told us what brand the harness is. Also the writing might not be great, but really you'd have to be pretty dim to not understand it, stay in school, you need it. Translation I purchased a wiring harness to install an aftermarket receiver in my 2000 Chevy Cavalier, alas kind sir I have lost the insert that came with the harness and as such I am at a loss as to how to wire my receiver to the harness.
