FAQ

Is it best to go for a more powerful vacuum cleaner?

The power of a vacuum cleaner’s motor is measured in Watts. The higher the Wattage the better it will clean, as long as the machine is well designed with good air flow and suction power too. However, the higher the wattage, the noisier the machine will be. With upright vacuum cleaners. you don’t need to have so much wattage or suction power as you do with a cylinder cleaner as the dirt has less distance to travel before it reaches the bag or dust container. The type of brushes are more of an important consideration with uprights than the power. You don’t always want to have a vacuum cleaner operating at full power for example, when cleaning upholstery or curtains, so it’s useful to be able to adjust the power level yourself.

Which attachments should I look out for?

Most vacuum cleaners come with three attachments, a crevice tool, upholstery and dusting brushes and a small head which is best for vacuuming stairs. You can also get additional turbo brushes which have their own motor for extra suction which are useful for cleaning deep-pile carpets or a power cleaning head which has electrically powered rotating brushes. A hard-floor or parquet brush is useful for wooden or tiled floors. Some cleaners have extendable tubes which are useful for hard to reach areas like cobwebs in the corners of ceilings.

I have a large house? What should I look out for?

Look for a cleaner with a large cleaning head – this will help cut down the amount of time it takes to vacuum a room. Also get as long a lead as you can get to cut down on the number of times you have to unplug the lead and plug it in again. You may also want to consider getting a model with a large capacity dust collector or bag so that you don’t have to empty it as frequently. If you have a lot of stairs, you may want to get a cylinder model with a long stretchy stair-cleaning hose.

Q:Is bag or bagless better for upright vacuum cleaners?
no but you will have to clean the filter and empty the bin after using it for about 1 hour depending on the amount of dirt you have....the filter is just like a sponge to clean it you just rinse it under water and cant use it again till it drys
Q:How come Hulk Hogan never got an endorsement deal with Brother Vacuum Cleaners, Brother?
Because brother didnt like him
Q:Does anyone know how to make a very organized looking pattern on the carpet when vacuuming?
what in the world?
Q:Why do vacuum cleaners have headlights on them?
One person actually said, In case of power failure.! I think it's a useless feature. Not bright enough. I never get down low enough to see underneath where I'm vacuuming because it doesn't reach all the way under anyway.
Q:What vacuum is the best for picking up pet hair? I would like suggestions under $300.?
The Shark Navigator is a small, compact vacuum with features and capabilities similar to that of its full sized and more expensive counterparts. It is by no means a replacement for a Dyson or a Miele, however, at only $140.00, it is a good compromise between more expensive, more powerful units, and cheap vacuums that don't work at all. In our tests, the Navigator did a very good job of picking up pet hair. Consumers also report having a good experience with the Navigator removing pet hair. Shark has also just released the Navigator Lift-Away, which combines an upright vacuum and a canister into one neatly packaged vacuum cleaner. We are currently reviewing the Lift-Away and will have it posted soon. One final note, we have found that bagless vacuums are far superior to bagged vacuums when it comes to pet odor control. We’ve tested Oreck bagged vacuums with special odor control features and very expensive Miele pet vacuums with special odor inhibiting filters, and none of them really work. The only vacuums we’ve found that don’t have pet odor problems are bagless vacuums you can empty regularly, with washable filters that you can wash as often as necessary to control odors.
Q:What type of vacuum cleaner should we get?
Hi there, Sorry to hear about your Dyson. If you get in touch with us free , I'm sure we can help. However, if you're considering purchasing a new cleaner, you might like to take a look at our website to learn more about our current range.
Q:What is the difference between expensive and cheap robotic vacuum cleaners?
The okorder.com for reviews.
Q:About Newborns and Vacuum Cleaners?
ok so this may sound crazy but do it while shes sleeping. This way she will get use to noises when shes sleeping. I didn't with my first and my sister suggested it with my 2nd so wouldn't have the same problem of waking the baby with every little sound u make. Also the noise shouldn't bother her. Babies like white noise
Q:Why do dogs get so freaked out by vacuum cleaners?
Dogs have sensitive hearing, so something as loud as a vacuum will scare them. Dogs hear at a wider range of frequencies than humans. The low end of the range is similar, but dogs hear noises up to 45 kHz, while humans only hear sounds up to about 23 kHz. This means that they could be hearing and responding to sounds that we can't hear at all. Cats can hear sounds as high as 64 kHz, bats up to 110 kHz and porpoises up to 150 kHz! Younger people and animals generally have more acute hearing than older ones. Deafness is not uncommon in old dogs and some have hereditary deafness. At the high and low ends of the frequencies that we hear, sounds must be louder, or more intense in decibels, for us to hear them. So, a dog could hear a siren farther away than we could. Pain results from sounds that are much louder than our threshold of hearing. Dogs could feel pain from sounds that weren't painfully loud to us. Very loud sounds can hurt the ears and if a sound seems too loud to you, it is probably more so to your dog.
