FAQ

Is it best to go for a more powerful vacuum cleaner?

The power of a vacuum cleaner’s motor is measured in Watts. The higher the Wattage the better it will clean, as long as the machine is well designed with good air flow and suction power too. However, the higher the wattage, the noisier the machine will be. With upright vacuum cleaners. you don’t need to have so much wattage or suction power as you do with a cylinder cleaner as the dirt has less distance to travel before it reaches the bag or dust container. The type of brushes are more of an important consideration with uprights than the power. You don’t always want to have a vacuum cleaner operating at full power for example, when cleaning upholstery or curtains, so it’s useful to be able to adjust the power level yourself.

Which attachments should I look out for?

Most vacuum cleaners come with three attachments, a crevice tool, upholstery and dusting brushes and a small head which is best for vacuuming stairs. You can also get additional turbo brushes which have their own motor for extra suction which are useful for cleaning deep-pile carpets or a power cleaning head which has electrically powered rotating brushes. A hard-floor or parquet brush is useful for wooden or tiled floors. Some cleaners have extendable tubes which are useful for hard to reach areas like cobwebs in the corners of ceilings.

I have a large house? What should I look out for?

Look for a cleaner with a large cleaning head – this will help cut down the amount of time it takes to vacuum a room. Also get as long a lead as you can get to cut down on the number of times you have to unplug the lead and plug it in again. You may also want to consider getting a model with a large capacity dust collector or bag so that you don’t have to empty it as frequently. If you have a lot of stairs, you may want to get a cylinder model with a long stretchy stair-cleaning hose.

Q:I know that most cats are afraid of the vacuum cleaner, but when we vacuum our adult cat will hide for hours on end. We have dark carpet so we vacuum almost every other day. It took him 4 hours to come out from behind our table, and when I coaxed him to me, he just sat frozen next to me and stared at the vacuum that was across the room. He was literally shivering at the sight of it. When I went to put it away, he went back under the table. I cannot get him to come back out. I've tried leaving him in another room while I vacuum, but he knows how to open doors and hates being shut up in our room or the bathroom. Last time I tried, he opened the bathroom door and then bolted under the table. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I have to vacuum frequently, but I feel guilty when I do because he is so afraid. We have had him for about 2 weeks and are still trying to figure him out. Is this normal cat behavior, or are most cats simply bothered by vacuums?
Cats hear at a higher scale then humans do so he probably hears stuff that you can't (like, nerve wrecking stuff). My cats have adjusted to having things vaccumed since they've been living with it for 12 years now--they just get up on something high (where we don't vacuum) or at least off the floor like a chair or bed and sit up there quite relaxed. We never tease them with the vaccum, we just get the floors done as quickly as possible. You've only had your guy for 2 weeks so this is probably something quite new (and noisy) for him. He'll get used to it but don't tease him with the vacuum ever, and just reassure him quietly as you vacuum. Even our skiddish male has grown so blase about the vacuum.
Q:I should also add that I need a vacuum cleaner that has strong suction and is good for picking up cat hair.
I have a couple of Oreck vacuum cleaners. They have disposable bags. They are powerful and light weight. You need the Oreck hand vacuum that goes with the upright Oreck as there is no hose on the main unit. Oreck has a small vacuum with all the hose attachments and it also has a disposable bag. Very handy for doing stairs. I've had mine for about eight years with no problems at all.

Agreed. Owned one...switched to Rainbow. Cost is high on the Kirby, but it's rated at being best in its' category...for vacuuming. I didn't like how cumbersome it was to use, or having to empty bags. Rainbow has several attachments, too...but all the dirt goes into the water trap, and you just pour it out when finished. Egad...it's gross and great, all at the same time. Great for allergies, and there are air cleaner/fresheners included. As you clean, the Rainbow will scent or clean the air. Read more about it, and you might like it better than the Kirby. Either one will require fussing between attachments...but having had both, I'll never go back to Kirby. Carpet cleaner WAY much hassle. Better to rent a cleaner, as needed, than to take up space storing a unit you seldom use. Hope this helped. It's quite an investment.

does no longer recommend them. a chum had one- they do no longer %. up plenty. may be of use in case you have a huge room without corners (that is not any longer ordinary to software them for ordinary sizes) and not plenty furniture, yet once you have that difficulty how no longer ordinary is it to in basic terms run the vacuum?
Q:I have a Eureka Whirlwind (canister vacuum cleaner). I have probably had it for 4 years or so. Sometimes it quot;spitsout garbage from the canister. Should a vacuum cleaner last only 4 years? Or maybe the belt needs to be changed? Any ideas?
For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/avP3i well that would depend on you and how much long you using it, what you are using it for. and so on
Q:I have some cordless phones and a vacuum cleaner, both of them don't work (broken). I don't know if I can just throw them in the garbage and they will take them? or maybe there is a place where I can take them to be recycled?Help me please
Sell them to a second hand shop or something? You might get some cash in return :P Cause some second hand shop fix things.
Q:Hi everyone, I will be buying a new vacuum cleaner soon and would like some recommendations/ testimonials from regular users of vacuums as to which ones you all feel is/are the best. It needs to be one that is good for picking up pet hair, and doing a 3 bedroom house top to bottom, (so will be on for a good while when in use), also the cost needs to be under ?200. many thanks.
seem into vacuums which includes a rainbow which keeps the airborne dirt and mud in water in the vacuum extremely then spit into the air OR get a vacuum that have Hepa filters on it. those form with the Hepa filters catch the airborne dirt and mud from escaping into the air. I propose you call a used vacuum broking and gets some suggestions of what they have. good success!
Q:I hate vacuum cleaners and my dad vacuums all of the time. Does anybody know of a silent vacuum cleaner?
Only a central, whole house vacuum could come close to silence and then only if the fan/motor part was in the garage, outside or very deep in the basement. Vacuums work by turning a rather high speed fan and they are quite noisy. So, you would need to isolate that noise somewhere outside the living area to have a nearly silent system. Even then, moving air makes noise so... Bert.
Q:Selling vacuum cleaners
Start looking now. Just quit as soon as you find another job. No reason to give notice if its never gonna show up on your resume, but you still need to pay bills until you find something better.
