Water pump rebuild kit from Mercury, part# 99157T2, about $65. The kit includes the impeller, all gaskets and seals, wear plate and pump body insert. Sierra marine offers a cheaper kit, but their kit does not include the wear plate or pump insert, and these parts cannot be purchased separately from Sierra, so I would not recommend this kit, unless your wear plate and pump insert have been previously changed in the last 3 years.

Q:We had a thunderstorm followed by power outage last night, this morning I went to use the water and it slowly went dead.I began by inspecting the pressure tank and pressure control switch, then found the outside water pump breaker was tripped, upon resetting the water was back on!But wait, after about 1-2 minutes of use there was a small quot;POPand smoke from the control switch and the breaker tripped again. It seems now that every time the water pump kicks in I've got a 50/50 shot of the circuit breaker blowing. I'm not sure what to do now, I don't want to keep resetting my pump breaker, we really didn't get that much rain so I don't know what would be causing this issue?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!
If it works on one circuit but not another, why don't you just leave it where it works ? You didn't say what size the breaker is, or if there's something else on the same circuit. Maybe the pump plus one other item on that circuit are together enough to trip the breaker. Is it possible to give it it's own dedicated breaker at a bigger current, say 15 or 20 amps ? There's nothing wrong with being generous with your breaker size, it's not uncommon for breakers to trip if there's a constant current which is near, but under the rated current. It will still trip the breaker if there's a short.
Q:changed the thermostat. it overheats but cools down a heat bar or two idling at stoplights. i filled up the coolant reservoir when i changed the thermostat, drove it about 2 miles(engine was already up to temp when i started) and it overheated. drove it two miles back going about 35-40 and it never went above normal but was still overheating. checked the reservoir and it was empty. stuffed a hose in it and plugged it up with a towel to force water in to see if it was leaking anywhere, no leaks. while running with the rpms up the top hose is easy to squeeze. makes me think water pump. but if i go over 45 it over heats makes me think clutch fan.
So if i understand, you are losing water from your system but no evidence of where it is going. I can think of two options. Heater core, but you may get a coolant smell inside the car, steam on the interior of windshield. You can check this by connecting the heater hoses directly, bypassing the heater core. If it still loses water, look for foamy oil on the dipstick or on the oil filler cap. If present then the other guy is right - headgasket. I would also look into flushing the system, or replacing the radiator - it may be clogged.

Q:the pulley wheel fell off while i was driving and all of the pulleys turn except the two under the water pump pulley. does anyone know if that is supposed to spin by hand or will it only spin when the car is running?
Your water pump should definately be able to be spun by hand. Generally when a water pump goes, or starts to go, it will leak antifreeze and or you will be able to shake the pulley slightly. Double check and try to spin the water pump again without any belt tension on it. A water pump can go at any time however, if your car has less than like 80,000 miles on it, it's probably fine.

No. Do you have power? Battery, alternator. Does it crank? Starter, solenoid, wiring, ignition. If all the above is ok, then what's left is air, fuel, and fire. You need all these to have a running vehicle. Fuel system-pump, filter, pressure regolator... Air-filter, maf sensor... Fire- plugs, wires, cap/rotor...
Q:ok some one put sugar in my gas tank i had to replace my fuel pump and now i have sludge that's eating th inside of my radiator hoses and my water pump went and of course that's timing driven and my timing belt is awful tight i cant put a finger in between it ....and my car is not car water so i cant drive it and i don't have money to blow to take it to a shop any help u can offer will help and i know i am going to replace my water pump and info for when i do that will help and answers to the sludge (its like a Vaseline) and how to find out if its in my motor or my brand new radiator ? me plz i am a 18 yr old girl with knowledge about cars and have friends to help me and my mom so any helpp will help and is better then none
Correct okorder /.... Sugar in the tank, is a MYTH. The problem you have, is NOT due to someone putting sugar in the tank. Secondly, your fuel system doesn't connect at all to your radiator. So, replacing a fuel pump has nothing to do with sludge in your coolant. So, is the sludge in the coolant, or the fuel? Because honestly, your question makes no sense right now. Edit: I didn't correct your spelling. I corrected the fact that you are incorrect about sugar in the tank doing anything. IF anything, it would have clogged your fuel filter. Not your fuel pump. Go read the article.
