Q:All water pump have diferent caracteristics, but it is imposible to overcome a certain hight...what is that hight and why?
The width of the pipe and the force of the pump both play an important rule. Given you have two pipes of different widths and the same pump, the thin pipe will take up water to a higher height. Plants for example have xylem (tiny water conducting tubes) that allow even the highest leaves to be watered.
Q:Iv got a 2002 Chrysler Sebring with a 2.7 in it and recently it started leaking coolant, its been determined that i need a new water pump. Iv gotten quotes from various places and various prices but there all telling me i need to replace different things. One guy said i need a timing kit, the other guy said i dont need a timing kit but need valave covers and a couple other things, another said i dont need anything but the pump itself. Im lost and the leaks getting worse and i need to make a decision but dont know what to do. Some insight from you helpful people would be great!
typically labor is 300-400 for that task. that scenario would dictate when one is done, both should be done. needed or not. getting them on the same maintenance schedule so to speak. thing is, is that the 2.7 uses timing a chain. not a belt. belts require changes. chains may or may not. in this case, there is no maintenance interval for the timing chain.
Q:89 Dodge van overheats, no water leak, replaced thermostat but still overheats.
this sounds more like a radiator problem, or possibly an electric fan, if there is on. Usually the water pump will lose the weep hole gasket on the bottom of the water pump and dump water when its running, but quits when you stop. A water pump bearing can start to sieze, you may notice temp fluctuating almost to hot, then drop back down. Take off the radiator cap when the vehicle is cold and start it up. let it idle until the thermostate opens. and watch the water in the radiator to see if it circulates at all as someone slowly raise the idle up to 2 thousand rpm, and rev the engine a few times, and see if the coolant momes across the radiator. It may be your thermostate is stuck partway, or the radiator is ready for a rebuild, they generally are good for about 20 years or so. I suggest using distilled or filtered water in your radiator if you replace it. There are many harmful chemicals in tap water, much more than people realize, and they can combine with chemicals in antifreeze and cause solder rotting electrolysis. By using distilled water, you minimize this risk and studies by major radiator companies have been proven to make radiators last a lot longer if a minimum amount of care is taken, like changing antifreeze every few years, and using distilled water as much as possible. I buy mine in the gallon jugs. and top off the overflow occasionally.
Q:Pump performance parameters have three sets of data, how to understand the flow, lift, flow speed
The middle parameter is the rated value. The lower limit is the maximum. General use of valve control.
Q:i know a little bout cars always fixed my own since day one but this is the first car i have ever had/workd on with a internal water but thats driven off timeing chain my cars running hot and its holding prusser so i know its not radator or hoses but i need to know a way to check and make sure its the water pump befor i go tearing the engine apart
When the car is running feel the hoses to see if the bottom hose is warm or not. If it is a lot cooler than the top one the water pump may not be working. Also turn on the heater to see if there is heat in the car. If there is heat inside the car the water pump is working. If the car is running hot while driving around town but runs cooler while driving on the highway the cooling fan may not be working properly. That car has a two stage cooling fan that is known for going bad. The low speed setting is the speed that is normally used and the high speed setting is used when the air conditioning is on. With that in mind you can try turning on the air conditioning to see if the motor cools down when it is hot. You will also want to see if the fan is coming on at all before you go too far and check the fuses and relays before you assume the fan motor is bad because they are around $100.00. Also I should note that I assumed that you have already checked the fluid level and thermostat. If not you need to check that first. Hope i have been helpful.
Q:how can i put in a water pump for a1994 bonniville sse?
Simple. Open the trunk. Put the water pump inside. Close the trunk. Drive the car (or have it towed) to your local mechanic and ask him to install it for you. ;^)
Q:I've never had overheating problems before, (although the heating itself never worked great) but today the gauge suddenly spiked while driving at about 50mph. I pulled over and steam was coming off the engine and the cooland tank was bubbling. The coolant was low, but not empty. I put some water in the coolant tank, let the engine cool and drove to a gas station where I got some coolant which I mixed with the water in the coolant tank. That didn't seem to help any. Even after letting the engine cool completely, it spikes after less than five minutes of driving. The radiator and both top and bottom hoses are equally hot. When I tried to start the engine with the radiator cap off, cooland shoots up out the top. The fans are working propely and there is no debris on the front of the radiator. So I'm sort of at a loss. Also, I've had some trouble starting since the problem.
Hi so your issue is most likely the radiator cap as well over time the spring in the lid of the cap which retains pressure becomes weak over time.
Q:hooking up a water pump to my tank and need a power supply
can you be a bit more descriptive have you a pump but no way of powering it if so what type of pump what voltage where is pump
Q:I was wondering if there was a device that can pump and cool water. What I am looking for is essentially an aquarium pump that cools the water as it circulates.

Q:I am replacing the water pump and want to know exactly where the two o-rings go
There are several rubber seals on a water pump. The biggest irregular shaped seal is obviously for the main portion of the pump (this can not be misinterpreted for something else). The next in size is the o-ring for the thermostat. And 2 additional O-rings (one smaller than the other) are for the return pipes. While removing/pulling out the pump, take care that the pipes do not get pulled outward by the pump. And when putting in the pump just gingerly align the pipes to the holes in the pump and you are good to go.
