Q:Hi all i had a 1999 EJ8 with MF816 vtec sohc engine my problem this morning is that my car fail to start the only clue that i notice is that my abs check light wont turn off but blinking instead anyone experience this?

The ABS blinking light usually means that there is a problem with your anti-lock break system. Did it quit blinking and go away after you started it and drove it around for a bit? If so, then the car not starting probably reset the system and there is nothing wrong with your ABS System. If it is still blinking, I would take it to a mechanic that could hook up the coder machine to pin point what specifically happened in the brakes for the light to come on. The ABS light should have nothing to do with the car not starting. Process of elimination would be to check the battery first. Make sure that the cables are secured tightly to the terminals and that there is no corrosion. If the corrosion is bad, it will cause you car not to start. You can clean it up with baking soda and water, or your local parts store (which I prefer) has a spray cleaner to get the corrosion off. Take a steel brush and clean any of the corrosion that is left. Have the auto parts store test your battery and alternator to make sure those parts are not going out on you. Then the next step would be to check the starter. If your check/service engine light is on, they can pull the codes for you and tell you specifically what is happening with your engine, (I know Advanced Auto and Auto Zone have code readers and it's a free service). Q:the light comes on and blinks only in those cases went to auto zone got it check with their systems and everything was fine from their systems say. good batterie, starter, and alternator but from what i goggled and saw was that it might be the alternator going bad or wire is loose on it. not sure please help and the car is a honda 92 accord wih about 10 k miles

Check the battery post connections make sure their not loose or rusted/corrode, check the alternator belt it maybe loose, otherwise have the charging system tested. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way many shops and part stores will test the battery and alternator for free.

Q:I have a 1999 Nissan Maxima. I got it from my uncle. He babied the car. He never really drove but only once a week. He had it service and interior and exterior is clean inside out. But the check engine light is on. He said he had it looked at but it was nothing and it was on the whole time he had. But it‘s not always on. One day It wasn‘t on and I was happy but now it‘s on everyday. I hope it‘s not nothing major. The car has no problems. I don‘t know what it could be. If its a bad sensor why was it off for that one day and a couple other days.

On Board Diagnostic 2 or OBD2 systems in cars 1996 and newer turn on the check engine light. Almost never does a engine light come on for no reason. Anytime the car detects something that may cause more emissions you get a light. Go to auto parts store that will read the code and get back to us at answers and we'll help. Good Luck

Q:My service engine soon light keeps coming on. I took it to Auto Zone and they scanned it, The code said it was a emissions control system problem AKA gas cap. I bought a new gas cap, and it came on again so I went back and it is the same code. Any suggestions?

Q:I just bought a used 2000 Chevy Blazer 4WD. The service engine light was on and they (i took it to auto zone) ran the diagnostics check on it and told me that it was the EGR Valve. They said first take it off and clean it with intake valve with carb cleaner and a wire brush. I did that and it came back on. So the next step was to buy a new EGR Valve. I went back to autozone and bought one, came home, and put the new one on. the light was off only for about 10 mins then it came back on again. However when i had the old EGR valve the light would go off every now and then but then it would always come back on. Im not sure if there is a short in any of my wires or what else it could be. What should i do next?

It could just be the sensor. Get it checked again now that you have the new part on. Or you might have a different problem that caused it to come on. (lol, one car I had, the engine and abs light would come on after a hard rain.) Resetting it like that should fix it then. See if that works. If not, it might be the sensor. Edit: If the light is still on after you tried to reset it by disconnecting the battery, you might need to have it reset or replaced. And you really shouldn't do that with newer vehicles. You can mess up the other computers in newer cars. You can use a scanner and reset it from there.

Q:2000 Pontiac grand am 2.4 automaticbattery light came on while driving. took battery and alt to Autozone. alt tested good. battery tester not working. warrantied battery anyway. so, good alt and new battery. checked for loose/bad connection. all seem fine.when I start car in the morning I can drive 10 min the the battery light comes on. I can accelerate 1500+ rpms and light goes off but back yo idle the battery light comes back on.too car to orilleys auto and had them test on car. battery good. alt diodes good. receiving low voltage at 11.78. was told alt bad???? was it a bad bench test or is could there be something else???

Sounds like the alternator is charging but not enough, you need 13.5 to 15 volts at the battery when the engine is running to keep everything going. Change the alternator and you should have solved the problem.
