Q:auto zone says my code and check engine light is a small vacume leak some where help?

Small leak detected. This deals with the EVAP system. If it was a vacuum leak in the engine you would get a lean code or something to that affect. Yes, check the gas cap for cracks around the seal, also check the filler neck for rust build up. make sure the cap is on tight. check the vent valve unplug add power and ground to the valve it's self not the wire side (you should hear a clear clicking when you add and take away power and ground. (check both ways 1 way will not work, as in power and ground) check hoses in the evap system for cracks. if you see nothing after doing all this you will need the system smoked. No more than 1 PSI in the evap system. Depending on what year make model and engine size will determine if there is anything else you could do before smoking the evap system. good luck I hope you find what is wrong with it and don't have to pay for a smoke test.

Q:I just got my driver‘s license and now have my dad‘s old Dodge. After 3 days of driving it around town the Check Engine Light came on. My dad who is a heavy equipment mechanic for the past 30 years told me to check all of the fluids thinking it is probably the oil, he can‘t check himself as he is working hundreds of miles away. So I check and all of the fluids and they are full, engine oil, transmission oil, power steering fluid etc it‘s all good. I looked at the manual and the book said it was an emissions problem here is exactly what it said:Check Engine Light:This light is a part of an onboard diagnostic system called OBD, which monitors the emissions, engine, and automatic transmission control systems. If a problem is detected in one of these systems, the Check Engine Light will come on. Although your vehicle will usually be drivable and not need towing, see your dealer for service as soon as possible.What could be wrong with my truck?

you could just have an injector going bad on it also,it should have clogged more than one injector up though on it,have someone run a compression check on it to verify the exact amount of compression that cylinder has on it,you could also have a cracked cap on it,if it was me id try replacing the cap and rotor and see if that helps it any.good luck,edit if it continues to flash on and off that indicate a problem with the converter on it,and it may do damage to the engine if you drive it like this,i seen a customer once that was so determined to get their injectors cleaned out that they ran three cans of cleaner through the system on less than half a tank of fuel and it damaged the converter on it,good luck

Q:now why do you suppose car manufacturers such as toyota,nissan basically all auto manufacturers integrate such system.i mean come on its DAYTIME it not like its dark or anything.and the fact that it also draining the life of your battery its just my opinion i think its useless

If Having lights on during the daytime helps to avoid even one accident, SAVE one life, because the car was more visible then I am all for them. The Fact is that they DO not drain the life from a battery as they only are on after the car is running and the Alt is actually running the entire Electrical makes you statement moot.

Q:The light disappears spontaneously after 1 seconds. The car drives ok afterwards. The oil level looks fine on dipstick, and I have one bar left on the auto oil change indicator. This has been happening for the last 2-3 weeks. I recently had a dead battery, which is lt;1 yr old, and thought it might be a bad alternator. Could this all be due to that?Thanks

It could be that when you turn, the oil moves away from the sensor for that second and the light comes on. Not sure but sounds like thats what might be happening

Q:i have a viper alarm/auto start system in my 88 crx and it stoped working.i was pulling my insterment cluster out and thats were it was located and i unhooked everything so i could pull my cluster out.after i was done i put everything back the next morning i tryed my auto start and nothing my alarm is still working.its just my auto start i dont have the manual or anything beings that the arlarm came with my car when i bough it.any help would be great thank you.

Auto-start has lots of interlocks and any one of them will keep the starter from working. My daughter's has error codes that blink on the parking lights (hers is saying the disable toggle switch is off, but she can't find the switch). You will have to search for the user's manual for the model you have to decipher the code.

Q:When I try to start my car the auto theft light comes on and it won‘t start. Why won‘t my car start?

It may help if we know what kind of car that you have. If it is a GM car and the theft light comes on, you have a problem with the anti-theft system. When there is a problem with the theft system it will not allow the car to start. Generally on GM cars, it is usually the ignition lock cylinder or key problem. Most cars now have a computer chip or for GM a resistor chip installed in the key for prevention of theft. A reputable mechanic should be able to help you if they have the proper tools. However, with a theft system problem you may be better off taking it to the dealer. Hope this helps.

Q:How do I correct this? I did get gas 3days ago and the other I day I had the hood pop‘d when it was raining but i needed to to add ani-freeze (spelt wrong) b/c it was low but we go that fixed now.

It's worth removing and replacing the gas cap, because your ECM (engine control module) will detect a failure of your gas tank to partly pressurize by fuel vapors as a problem with your Evaporative Emissions System, and it will light the Check Engine Light (CEL) to let you know. But the mis-fire could be the cause of the CEL, instead. A mis-fire can cause a number of sensors that feed information to your ECM to go out of scale. And you might even have an ongoing problem that is making additional mis-fires more likely. If your car is newer than 1996, you can stop at any Autozone auto parts store, and ask them to read your car's OBD II port, and tell you the error codes your ECM is storing. Using those codes, they can tell you at least what your car's ECM thinks is wrong, and what parts might need to be replaced or checked.

Q:I have a 2001 Impala, and my ABS light comes on sometimes when driving and stays on until the car is off. Today I took my car to three mechanics, first a place called tuffy and they told me its my front left wheel bearing and its going to cost my $365 to replace. The mechanic told my this would take care of the ABS light. I then went to Midas for a second opinion, and was that I would have to replace parts on my Brakes and they were going to switch them around only costing my $60. I then went to a third auto shop and was told all I need is a new wiring for the ABS this would cost $61.00. All three had different reason for why my ABS light is on. My light comes on when it wants to and have not been on since this morning, so what could cause this problem?I also hear no loud noises when I‘m making a left turn so could the Wheel bearing still be the problem?Should I just take my car to the dealership?

About 30 years ago, I was riding a friend's 650 cc Triumph Bonneville chopper. I laid it over in gravel, and really chapped my friend.
