Q:I have a McColloch HID Kit for about 3 yrs now with no issues. In the last couple months, the passenger side flickers sometimes when going over bumps(pot holes). I checked all connections and they seemed to be ok. Now, the headlights are not always coming on with the "Auto" headlights feature like it used to. The fog lights and marker lights come on but not the low beams. I have to turn the lights off and on again and then it will work. Thoughts PLEASE ?!

You most likely need a new system. If they are not turning on all the time, it means the igniter is beginning to fail. The flickering is probably from bad bulbs, not the wiring. I've had the same issues before, and had to buy a new kit. See if McColloch will give you a deal, they are a pretty reputable company.

Q:Engine light is on in 2002 Jetta. What might be causing this?

a CEL won't go on for no reason, don't listen to that guy. take it to advanced auto or autozone and they will read it for free. there are way too many possible reasons for it to come on for us to list here.

Q:This morning I go out to my car and it chose to act out on me. 2000 Daewoo Nubira.Odd sound possibly from resonator?As soon as I turned it on, it started shaking and almost like it was bouncing. The check engine light also came on too. I put it in reverse to see if that may work, but it still was shaking. I then put it in drive and gave a little gas, no result, so I put it back in park and now have no idea what to do.It does seem to be coming from the engine area. Also, there is no way I could afford to go to a mechanic right now.I did try driving it (not too far though) and it still does shake when driving.The light is a constatant, no blinking. My husband checked for a hissing and he says there is none.The guy at AutoZone said it should be alright to drive in, but with any problem I get so nervous and I am not sure about whether or not it is alright to drive even the three miles to AutoZone.(I asked this earlier and still confused as to what it could be)

Q:The service engine light came on in our car this morning after getting gas so we thought it was just the gas cap but took it to auto zone to be sure. They said it was an egr or ezr (not sure which) valve and sensor and that it may just need sprayed with wd40 to get it to open up and if not and has to be replaced its a $170 part. Is my car still drivable for the time being until we can figure out how we‘re going to potentially come up with $200?? My husband drives our car 100 miles a day to and from work so please use that in saying whether or not its driveable.

it's not the egr valve. the light came on after putting fuel? replace the fuel cap auto zone's are known for making you spend money hoping you will buy the part from them. also an egr valve code is common on gm vehicles. unless its running rough, I wouldnt worry about it. all it does it allow the car to reburn the exaust. (exaust recirculation valve). after you replace the fuel cap, the car will need to be driven about 60 miles for the computer to reset the emission system and the light to go off.

Q:I just bought a used 2000 Chevy Blazer 4WD. The service engine light was on and they (i took it to auto zone) ran the diagnostics check on it and told me that it was the EGR Valve. They said first take it off and clean it with intake valve with carb cleaner and a wire brush. I did that and it came back on. So the next step was to buy a new EGR Valve. I went back to autozone and bought one, came home, and put the new one on. the light was off only for about 10 mins then it came back on again. However when i had the old EGR valve the light would go off every now and then but then it would always come back on. Im not sure if there is a short in any of my wires or what else it could be. What should i do next?

It could just be the sensor. Get it checked again now that you have the new part on. Or you might have a different problem that caused it to come on. (lol, one car I had, the engine and abs light would come on after a hard rain.) Resetting it like that should fix it then. See if that works. If not, it might be the sensor. Edit: If the light is still on after you tried to reset it by disconnecting the battery, you might need to have it reset or replaced. And you really shouldn't do that with newer vehicles. You can mess up the other computers in newer cars. You can use a scanner and reset it from there.

Q:The light disappears spontaneously after 1 seconds. The car drives ok afterwards. The oil level looks fine on dipstick, and I have one bar left on the auto oil change indicator. This has been happening for the last 2-3 weeks. I recently had a dead battery, which is lt;1 yr old, and thought it might be a bad alternator. Could this all be due to that?Thanks

Q:Please Read Everything Below.I got a car back in October it is a 2002 Chevy Malibu and it was cold out so I haven‘t used the A/C until yesterday. I drove with my windows down to my destination so A/C was off and my car was in the sun outside in 80 degree weather for two hours then when left I turned the A/C on for the first time and it was emitting room temp air the whole half hour drive so I figured it might need a recharge or maybe it is leaking. Today I left and turned to A/C on and it seemed to be working a little bit better (50 degrees out) so I turned it on high after a couple minutes and the check engine light came on. I was just wondering if it could be a problem with the A/C that is causing it. Also if so can having low freon or whatever the refridgerant cause it or would it be more serious like a leak.Thanks in Advance. Any info will be very helpful.

no, the A/C system is not part of the On Board Diagnostics, so you have something else going on.
