Q:I am trying to replace a leaky valve stem. And I didn't know how to get to the valve core and when I get there how do I change it? The charge is recovered. It is a 2000 Impala. Thanks in advance.Noah
William H you are correct and sometimes there is a pressure switch screwed on the hi port. We must of went to the same classes ,and read the same books, over the years. Mike S You had said the belt was bad. It said NO POWER TO A/C, you know better then that! I have taught many techs both older and young. The older techs think they know it all WRONG. But you know what there is not one guy that leaves my class, who is not smarter.
Q:2003 Ford Focus SE2.0L SPI EngineAutomatic Transmission 145KPerfectly maintained since new!One of the pistons had snapped, yes the actual piston, it didn't mess up the walls, but I am hearing a LOT about these dropping valve seatsI intended to do an entire rebuild with a kit, but did it break BECAUSE of a droppedvalve seat?I don't know because I don't know what that isHelp is appreciated
highly unlikely , depends how the piston is broken often when revving too high the piston top will separate at a ring groove nothing to do with valve seats
Q:When i went to the cardiologist a few months ago, i remember him saying that my pulmonary and tricuspid valve were leaky, and i think he said they were a 1 on a scale of 1 to 4 which is minor and of no concern. but i have valve problems in my family and i got thining about it. anybody know what this scale is called/have more info or was it something he just made up to tell me that it was minor?
With a tape measure.
Q:I had some great answers to my question yesterday... I have decided to have the valve job done... Since I have decide to go this route... I need some reassurance, the few people I have suggessed this option to have now told me that typically after a valve job other problems will start showing up. They have said that the car isn't worth putting money into and to get ride of it.
Getting a vlave job done isnt going to hurt your car at all, nor your motor. Make sure you have a reputable machine shop do this (most garages dont have the tools for it). If a 3 angle valve job is done correctly and new valve stem seals, retainers, and spring are all carefully installed to manufacturer spec then there should be no problem at all. Many shops will do a sloppy job grinding the valve face (which is a hard thing to get the knack for) and will install to valves without another thought. When new valves or old valves with resurfaced faces are installed the spring rate of the valve springs needs to be checked to ensure are srpings are the same strength. Also once installed, the height of each installed valve/spring needs to be checked to make sure its in the specified allowance. If valve seats and surfaces are all done correctly along with a profesional installation I wouldn't worry!
Q:I was diagnosed with a VSD and a Biscuspid Aortic Valve and my doctor has started hinting towards sugery. I found out that the only reason i haven't had surgery yet is that it is stable enough to wait until technology improves so i am not left with a large scar. i was just wondering what this surgery would entail and if anyone has had it. I am 19 years old and kind of worried about it...

Q:I have a 98 Mitsubishi Mirage, seems there is a valve cover oil leak, i know this can be easily fixed by replacing the gasket.. but how will i know if the leak isn't from the valve cover gasket . Is the cylinder head gasket a major issue also .. if its not really the valve cover thats producing the oil leak should i not worry and just replace the valve cover gasket .?
Valve cover leaks are typically characterized by what you're experiencing: oil oozing out from the cover/cylinder head mating surfaces. If this were your cylinder head gasket, then you'd be experiencing some problems with how the engine runs ...very unlikely it would cause oil to leak from the valve cover. *Do not* simply wrench down on the bolts holding the valve cover; all you will do is crush the gasket and create a bigger leak. Two things you need to do: replace the valve cover gasket and make sure your PVC or crankcase vent system is not blocked. Swapping the gasket is pretty obvious ...they get old and dry out and leak. Checking/cleaning the crankcase vent system keeps compression blow-by gases (a normal thing in engines) from pressurizing the crankcase and forcing oil to seep out in places it shouldn't. A healthy, properly working crankcase vent system helps prevent this.
Q:im looking at buying a 1995 ford probe, but it has a busted valve in the head, does anyone know how much it would cost to have fixed?
stay away from it
Q:Ok i dont know much about cars so if anybody could help out with this id appreciate it. Do i need to take my car in to get the PCV valve replaced or can i buy it and have it done in my driveway?Thanks....
The PCV valve is about 3 inches long, just pull it out of the valve covers and replace it with the new one!!!
Q:my dad is going to go under heart valve replacement what are the chances of him surviving he is 58 years old and has copd
It depends a lot on which valve and why it's being replaced, but unless the COPD is very bad, the average chance that a 58yo man who does not have any other major medical problems will survive single-valve replacement surgery is better than 98% if the surgery is done by an experienced surgeon at a good hospital. The COPD will very likely mean that his post-operative recovery will be prolonged and difficult, but he should do fine.
