Q:iron rust but not aluminium? 10 points.?
Aluminum and Iron both form an oxide coating on the surface of the pure metal. Iron oxide and aluminum oxide are very different however. Rust is very soft and wears away quickly, exposing a fresh Iron surface. Aluminum oxide is what a ruby is made from (along with a little Chromium for color). Rubies are only a bit softer than diamonds, the hardest substance known. The oxide coat on Aluminum is very thin but also very hard. It adheres to the surface and prevents any further corrosion. Regarding Chromium, it is the key ingredient in stainless steel. Steel is an Iron alloy with a small amount of Nickel, Molybdnium, Vanadium and even Copper and Phosphorus. Stainless steel resists rust so well because the Chromium will form an oxide coating the same way Aluminum does. Since the Chromium is actually part of the alloy, if the stainless steel is scratched, the fresh surface soon coats with a protective layer of Chromium oxide.
Q:help with aluminium and titanium questions?
1. When exposed to air, pure aluminium rapidly forms a passive oxide layer, alumina, which further inhibits aluminium reactions with other elements. 2. Aluminium can be made stronger by alloying with other elements. One of the most known aluminum alloy is duraluminium, where the principal alloying component is copper. 3. Exactly as aluminium, titanium corrosion resistance is due to its high reactivity with oxygen. When pure titanium is exposed to air it forms a passive titanium dioxide layer on the surfaces exposed which further prohibits other reactions with corrosion agents. 4. The use of titanium in jet engines components is favored by its strength to weight ration, which is unmatched by any other metal. As for the nuclear reactors, its use is preferred because of its superior corrosion resistance associated with fracture toughness and overall durability. 5. Both titanium and aluminium are refined from their respective mined ores - bauxite, for aluminium, ilmenite and rutile for titanium. Basically, these are oxides of the metals. Pure metal has to be reduced from these ores and processes involve use of temperatures up to and sometime exceeding 1000 degrees Celsius, which obviously requires a great consumption of energy, including electricity. Moreover, pure aluminium is obtained in the final processing phase through electrolysis, meaning an electrical current is needed in order to drive the required chemical reactions, thus adding to the electrical consumption. 6. Recycling aluminium from aluminium simply requires the remelting of the metal, eliminating the electrolytic phase that is high electric energy consuming.
Q:how much aluminium is recycled per year?
45% The fact that they can be recycled to produce more cans means there is no excuse for many people to unaware of aluminum recycling. People should also be aware of the benefits that can occur from it. This has created a strong awareness of the recycling nature of cans and this has been a key factor in the growth of this area. In many canteens, dinner halls and corridors across schools and places of work there is a recycling bin. Wherever people can be found drinking from a soft drink can, a specific aluminum recycling bin can be found for cans to be placed in. Compared to the recycling of many other products, it is easier to find a recycle bin. The provisions for recycling soft drink cans have been more progressively tackled and many people are aware of the need to recycle soft drink cans. This has created awareness and knowledge about recycling and this has moved from school to the outside world. One of the major tactics of marketing departments is to target children and get them to pass the message through to all the family. This is usually done in a bad manner but it can also be done promote recycling. You may see people who go around picking up cans that are thrown away without thought and send them to a recycling center. There are some recycling centers that will make payment for numbers of soft drinks that are recycled. This is a way for people to make some money. It would take a phenomenal amount of aluminum recycling to make a fortune. However, it can help the environment and make a small amount of money back so many people can find the motivation to recycle. There are many places that could be a great source of finding soft drink cans that are thrown away: - School playgrounds - The beach - The car park - Parking lots - Busy streets The amount of products that are available to be recycled continues to grow but it is unlikely that they will grow to be more popular than aluminium recycling.
Q:What is in the aluminum in my 1991 Trek 2300?
You can NOT weld back an aluminum frame unless you have the facilities to anneal and heat treat the frame again. Rewelding without the post treatments will result in a very soft area around the new weld causing sudden catastrophic failure... this means if you are riding it could fail at any time causing injury or death. EDIT: Wait just a durn minute. The 2100 and 2300 had carbon fiber tubes bonded to aluminum lugs and stays. If your bike failed then you ABSOLUTELY should not try to weld it. The heat from welding (even if you had post treatment facilities) would destroy the bond between the CF and aluminum. Fair warning- cut the frame apart and throw it away.
Q:Why does deodorent have aluminum in it?
Well, I'm looking at my deodorant now, it looks like aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex is the active ingredient, the actual anti perspirant part. This is probably why it is a bad idea to eat it.
Q:what compound makes up aluminum?
Bauxite is the most important aluminum ore. It consists largely of the minerals gibbsite Al(OH)3, boehmite γ-AlO(OH), and diaspore α-AlO(OH), together with the iron oxides goethite and hematite, the clay mineral kaolinite and small amounts of anatase TiO2. You have an unusual way of asking that question. Aluminum is an element and cannot be broken down accept to sub-atomic particles.
Q:how could i weld two sheets of aluminium together?
GOOP silicone adhesives are much harder when set than 100% silicone adhesives more commonly seen, but if you are just butting the tubes, epoxy to build a gusset would be a better choice. Always clean all surfaces with soap and water and then with denatured or high percent rubbing (isopropal) alcohol to improve bonding.
Q:how to produce aluminium sheet circle?
As for the process, you can use punch.. as for professional machines, for example, stationary press in open type, mechanical press/ single-point press. The material you say is neither big nor small, blanking…(cutting them into sheet circle you want) you can add an uncoiling if it’s coil stock: open-type inclinable press, four-point press, ect. It’s not certainly accurate) punch, oil press, double , four-column hydraulic (oil) press, etc. it needs about 315T,(estimated value, closed type single, blank material cutting (cutting into square ) 2, it contains sheet metal forming technology, crank press: 1: straight side two : 1, but the components you said is simple, only two steps.
Q:What is aluminium plate L2-Y2?
L2Y2 is an industrial pure aluminum sheet:1, L2: China's industrial pure aluminum grades are limited by impurities to prepare, such as L1, L2, L3...... L, is the "aluminum" word Pinyin prefix, followed by the attached order number is bigger, its purity is low. Industrial pure aluminum is generally defined as aluminum with a purity of 99% to 99.9%, and China is designated as 98.8% - 99.7% aluminum.
Q:DC-3 with aluminum/chroming?
Polished aluminum, get a couple heavy duty buffers and some for your friends and then buy stock in Flitz. You can also get it where you want it and paint it with clearcote to keep it a littl better, or what most do; paint it a light gray or silver color. You can strip it, but strip and paint is not cheap. Also, since the controls are fabric covered, they will never match the polished fuselage, that's why paint is better.
