In North America, aluminium foil is known as aluminum foil. It was popularized by Reynolds Metals, the leading manufacturer in North America. In the United Kingdom and United States it is, informally, widely called tin foil, for historical reasons (similar to how aluminum cans are often still called "tin cans").Metallised films are sometimes mistaken for aluminium foil, but are actually polymer films coated with a thin layer of aluminium. In Australia, aluminium foil is widely called alfoil.

Aluminium (or aluminum; see spelling differences) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface.

Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite.

Aluminium is remarkable for the metal's low density and for its ability to resist corrosion due to the phenomenon of passivation. Structural components made from aluminium and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and are important in other areas of transportation and structural materials. The most useful compounds of aluminium, at least on a weight basis, are the oxides and sulfates.

Q:I am making a two layer 8 1/2 inch round cakePLEASE can someone suggest a good container or way to store this? I'm making it at night and it'll be eaten the next day at lunchI thought I had a round tupperwear container for it but when I realized it's too small! OH NO and I don't have time to go to the store and pick up a bigger oneAny suggestions or good ideas???
Put it on a plate, wrap it in aluminium foil and put it in the fridgeYou could stick some toothpicks on the top of the cake so that the foil doesn't stick to it.
Q:I want to know on which jar will heat up slowerI have 2 jars of the same size, filled with water, covered with its lid and placed under the sunThe first one though is covered with aluminum foil all the way through its body, and the other with a black art paper. So thereCan someone help me with this one?
Aluminum foil is a conductor of heat energyHowever, it does reflect radiation from heat sources, so it can reduce heat transfer through radiationWhen aluminum foil is wrapped around something, pockets of air can be trappedTrapped air is an excellent insulator against conduction and convectionHowever, if you want to prevent something like a can of soda from getting warm in your lunchbox, a wool sock will be a better insulatorEven paper toweling is better at insulating than aluminum foil when light is not shiningso Black Art paper will heat slower
Q:I have a challenge dealing with aluminum foilI have a 6 inch by 9 inch sheet of aluminum foil which will be folded into whatever shape I like and put in waterThis sheet will then be given pennies until the sheet sinksWhat would be the best shape to use on the aluminum foil?Second question: Does the volume of water displaced by the boat relate to the weight of the penniesHow?
I am not a psychiatristhowever, my brother has ocdthis does sound alot like you have iti suggest you see a psychiatristi dont meen that in a mean waybut they are the specialists at this type of thingtell your momor if you are older, see a psychiatrist.
Q:Is, anyone out there realizing the benefits (or lack of) carbon handlebars? And, are you using the standard shaped racing bars or the wing or ram style bars? They seem to be about the same weight as aluminium barsAlso, does anyone know the standard mm drop? 42, 44, etc. Thanks in advance.
Carbon unlike aluminum will dampen road vibrationThey are more expensive and it you are racing or prone to put your bike down, aluminum may very well be the best choiceI use a carbon bar from performance bike that has worked very well and is only 190 gramsFind something that you like and ride with itThere are hundreds of different options that no one is the absolute best for everybody.
Q:ive got just one bowl to last the rest of the day, wich means i need to make a fat resin ball for later? whats the best way to do that
heat it up with a lighter - this will make the resin soft and stick easierthen, take a paperclip and gently cover all nooks and crannieswhen you have some buildup on the paperclip, pull it out and use a sharp knife to collect whats on the paperclipleave it on the knife for now.take you time and be sure to not jeopardize the fragile bowl by pushing or scraping to hardbend the paper clip in direction ways to get those hard to reach spotsafter you have collected all the resin(it should still be on the knife, or collected in a ball), make a small aluminum foil ball and put in the main hole of the bowl.(this is so the resin doesnt go back in the pipe)take a huge hit, hold it in and waittry to concentrate on the buzz, as this will allow you to be content on the high at hand and conserve the resin for the whole daygood luck.
Q:I Need a Response ASAP Please!
Yes first of all you will need to buy a powder bleach and a creme developer( if you're hair is currently colored then buy a 30 developer, if not then buy a 20 developer) You will also need a plastic mixing bowl an application brush Gloves Aluminum hair foil And of course your color You can get all of these at a Sally's or any beauty supply store Firstly section off the peicea of hair you are planning on coloring Put on your gloves Pour some bleach into the plastic mixing bowl Add some developer and stir until the mixture is frothy Place an aluminum foil under your hair and apply the mixture until your hair is saturated Let develop until your hair is light blonde ( if your hair is currently processed you may have to spread the bleaching out over a couple of weeks to prevent breakage) Then you just wash it out and let it dry and apply the color( unless the color directions specify to apply to damp hair, in that case just towel dry ) hope this helps
Q:The one I have is one of the long aluminum flashlightsI'm trying to replace the bulb, but the round thing underneath is like rusted tight, and I can't get it offDoes it unscrew or pop off?
I couldn't find the info you need, but I will suggest that if it's anything like my MagLite it has a ring on the very outside edge that turns counterclockwise to get access to the inside of the bulb assemblyIt secures the lens, and I am not sure if you can get the bulb from thereThe only other thing is to take the light apart enough to get that rusty part out and keep soaking it with WD-40 or some other penetrant until you can unscrew the endDon't be in a hurry, let the penetrant work.
Q:What is a good recipe for trail mix?
Remedies for Dry, Damaged Hair Home remedies for hair gone wrong include restoration of moisture to hair not too severely damaged and making way for regrowthIn the case of hair ruined by hot rollers or straightening, you may have a few inches of relatively undamaged hair on the scalpGet a medium-severe haircut to get rid of the frizzled hair tips, or leave the damage right where it is and concentrate on protecting the good hairLeave off the chemicals, avoid the blow dryer and other heated hair appliances, and use gentle shampoo as infrequently as you dareShampoo strips oils from your hair, making it more brittle, so if you don't really need to shampoo, cut it down to once a week or soAnd forget vitamins in shampoo: they don't workYou can try taking vitamins internally to keep your hair strong as a side effect of your increased health, but there aren't any vitamins that help when applied externally :]
