Q:how do i tell if my car has mag wheels? they look like mag wheels but i have heard that this doesnt nessacerilly mean they are. i heard you can get fake mag wheels which look like mag wheels but arent really mag wheels. so how do i tell if they are mags?
I believe the word mag is in reference to magnesium the metal. A common misconception is that it refers to the heavy spokes a wheel might have. Magnesium is a silver colored metal. and it burns very hot that is why they are not used very commonly for obvious reasons. I think some of the mustangs in the late 70's had them. Hope this helps.
Q:I bought a KIA Sorento with AWD. I read the owners manual and my understanding is that it is 2 wheel drive but kicks into 4 wheel drive only when it detects slippage. Is this correct?
All wheel drive has a transfer case that splits power to the wheels as needed depending on what the computer sensors detect. For the most part it works fine as long as its working right. The technology for this type of transfer case is very expensive and if you ever have a problem with it it gets expensve in a hurry. Some auto makers have better products than others so it pays to pay attention and not buy one that does not perform well. A malfunctioning system can ruin a set of tires in 10,000 miles so if your traction control ever needs attention take it in and have it checked.
Q:What are wheel balancing weights...and how and when are they used on car wheels?
Wheel balancing is a process to have the gravity point on wheel is always at the center when the wheel is turning that cause an outward force, the balancing need to be done because the rubber isn't design to have a very smooth shape and gravity. The balancing be done in two ways, dinamic and static balance, static with wheel off the car, and dynamic on the car. The weight is depend on the need and placed depend on the need, more then one place is possible. The weight is placing by clamp model or sticky model, it's depend on visual and space between wheel and shockbreaker and brake. But clamp model is harder and better.
Q:What is the best sized silent spinner wheel for 2-3 female pet mice? The smallest size, or the 6 1/2 inch? Thanks in advance everyone! :)
The smallest I know everything about animals you could ask me any question and I could answer it
Q:where can I get cheap but nice BMW 328i wheels?
One of the best retail places I have found is America's Tire company if you want retail comfort. OKorder will have the BEST prices if you're familiar with OKorder, seller reputations and know what you're looking for in the pictures.
Q:So i have a 1991 honda accord LX. My car is perfectly aligned. but oddly my steering wheel is turened about 45 degrees to the left as drives straight and have no probles driving it what-so-ever. It has been in an accident before (only 1). Was hit on front passenger side, which left the wheel dented inward at the top. I was told i need to replace a few parts, and got a new hub bearing, steering knuckle, lower and upper control arm, and afterwards my tire was straight like it was before the only difference was the steering wheel. Could it be the whole steering gear that needs to be replaced? or the rack? what could the problem be?
wen they did the alignment they didn't center the steering wheel. that's one of the first steps of doing that job. so i would go back and tell them to get the steering wheel centered.
Q:Ladder group, wheel group, etc. What are the differences, purpose, precautions?
The ladder group should be the weight gain gradually increased from light, and then gradually reduced by the high (later this someone does not do). A pyramid model that conforms to muscle training. From low to high can have enough warm-up, muscle activity before impact to large weight, and the trainer has a protective effect because the muscles are slightly tired and do not blindly impact more than their own level of weight. From high to low is also to protect, because after a few groups of muscle fatigue can not always practice in large weight, but sometimes muscle congestion is not obvious, so reduce the weight, increase the number of times can also make muscle congestion.
Q:what is the different between all wheel drive and 4wd vehicle?
AWD generally operates all the time with no low or high gearing options. While 4WD is basically an SUV term, associated with off-road use, AWD is a car/wagon/minivan term that means traction improvement for performance or bad weather reasons. I own an AWD GMC Sierra Denali full size pickup also equipped with 4-wheel steering.
Q:I think iam getting a skateboard from blankdecks but i dont know what wheels to get size? hardness? I am basically going to ride on the streets and do basic tricks
Since wheels are a very personal preference, I'm goimngh to give you some generalities, not tell you to get a specific wheel. I would recommend a wheel from Spitfire, Bullet, Pig or Santa Cruz. You probably want a little softer wheel, like a 95 or 97a. These will give you a better ride on the rough streets, and the softer wheels won;t get hung up as easily as harder wheels. You are sacrificing a little but of speed, but the increased comfort will make the ride more enjoyable and less tiring. As for size, a bigger wheel has its advantages over small wheels. They will go over cracks and debris better and make the ride less jittery. I'd go with a 56mm wheel. The downside is it will be a little harder to do some flip tricks, but you should be able to learn it. This setup is a good all purpose setup that you can take to the skatepark or the ditch as well.
Q:I hit a curb last night and I‘m pretty sure I damaged the steel wheel itself on my car (aka it‘s beyond normal flat tire repair). The wheel is OEM (has a wheel cover). If I have to replace the entire wheel, is it likely that the shop will have a replacement? I‘ve always thought that when you changed tires they just replaced the rubber portion of the wheel, not the whole thing. Let me know if I need to add any additional info. Thanks!
If the insurance covers the wheel as in the comp or collision section of your policy then they will pay for the wheel is needed. Chances are the body shop will not have it in stock. The body will either have to get one from a dealer or aftermarket if the wheel is the same as the OEM. The tires may be a different story. There are tires that only a manufacturer uses and if the car has tires on it that are no longer made then the insurance company has to decided what to do. You can not have different tread designs on the same axle if it is a 2 or 4 wheel drive. An all wheel drive must have the same tread design on all 4 wheels. That will most likely be a judgment call on your insurance company.
