- Q:Really want a new steering wheel on my 1990 truck.Old one is too big, worn etc. It‘s and easy install, really simple.no power steering, no airbags etc. I know the cost for a new wheel and installation ( If i didn‘t do it myself )How common is it for an aftermarket wheel to come off or for it to strip the hub etc, Id prefer to not crash at 65 mph. - there is no such thing as power-braking. what youre doing is to put MORE stress on the Torque Converter AND the Braking System by MAKING them work AGAINST each other.! this will eventually lead to one or the other failing when you least expect it and presenting you and OTHERS into a Dangerous situation. who is the Clown who taught you to drive like this??? (Clown needs to have all driving privileges removed.) absolutely NO positive gains , BUT many Negative effects. actually , keep doing this Action , you might STOP when you find out how much it will COST you. Your vehicle is rear wheel drive and the recommended alignment is called a thrust alignment. The $80 price is within reason. The only thing I would warn you about is the fact that to make adjustments to your vehicle for camber and caster requires a shim. There is typically an extra charge for both the part and labor on these shims. Wherever you end up taking it be sure to ask them what the cost will be if it requires shims on both sides. - screeching noise isn't going to be from alignment that most likely is from your brakes and you want to have them checked out because it will just cost you more money the longer you wait. As for alignments go you always want to have a four wheel alignment done if it is a front wheel drive car, the back end of the car has to track evenly with the front end or the car will dog leg down the road and that is unsafe specially when cornering and braking.
