- I think you are missing a few of the ingredients in the cement mix and their function. Cement is not made up of just powdered rocks and water.

- It wouldn't be bulk (solid) plastics that would used in cement modification, it is more likely to be polymer latex dispersions - colloidal dispersions of small spheres of polymer, the material resembling a white milky liquid. The dispersion is water based, as is cement mix, so the two can easily be combined, and then when the cement dries and sets off, the interior of the porous structure of the cement block will contain a monolayer of the polymer. They are often used for imparting moisture resistance to the concrete, and also a degree of flexibility which reduces environmental degredation.
- Q:i am having a fence installed, i have quotes from 2 different contractors... one pounds the posts into the ground, the other cements each post into the ground, how deep either go i am not sure... but which way would be more secure long term? the posts are the same as used for a chain link fence (steel posts)... thanks
- Cementing the posts in the ground will hold longer. My Dad put up fencing all his life and this was his preferred method. He was always pointing out fences that he put up 20 or more years before.

- No you shouldn't do it. Surely there is somewhere else you could put it - anywhere would be better than down a toilet.

- I would use gravel and sand. For a 1 cubic yard concrete mix, use the following: 600 lbs cement 1250 lbs gravel 1650 lbs sand 45 gallons water (about 375 lbs) If you have to use all sand, then just use a 5:1 ratio and use a water to cement ratio of about .6 (6 lbs water to 10 lbs cement) This will put you at about 3000 psi. Don't add too much water as your strength will drop a bunch. Easier way: Just call the local concrete batch plant and ask for 3000 psi concrete. I would also call a local engineering firm to send someone out to take some concrete samples to make sure you get what you ordered. It'll cost a couple hundred bucks for the concrete tests, but it's worth it if you are building a house which will cost tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.

- Liquid poly is very liquid, it's useful for brushing onto large, flat surfaces or for very, very tiny parts, but generally normal poly cement is the thing to use. Never squeeze the tube! If you have to squeeze it means the nozzle is blocked; unblock the nozzle with a pin and hold the tube downward with the the the tiniest amount of pressure until the glue starts to flow. If you squeeze, there will be a 1 minute delay but then it'll come pouring out. Don't use poly cement unless you are sure you want a permanent weld; if you want a bond that can be broken apart (useful when you notice an error) use superglue or a hybrid epoxy. I use Zap-A-Gap quite a lot.

- No bee's can not go through cement. Actually I don't think they can go through wood unless there is a space or hole where they can enter.
