Q:should i get a solar panel?
I think solar panels benefit people a lot,it is worth buyingsolar power can be converted into heat energy and electricity which be used into daily human life,more convenient and safe,Also,solar power will not discharge any polluted gas,it can protect our earth.As for the negative,the price of solar power is a little higher at first pay,but you will not pay any fees any more.
Q:Can I join 5 or more solar panels into line to the battery bank. I don,t have a regulator connected, just st?
You can do this, but it isn't the best way to go. There is no problem with joining the solar panels. There are two ways to do this, in series and in parallel. A series combination will add the voltages that each panel is producing together, but not the amperages. For example, if five panels are producing 6V at 300mA each, the end result will be 30V at 300mA for a series array. A parallel combination combines the amperages of all the panels, but not the voltages. So, in our earlier example, five panels at 6V and 300mA would provide 6V and 500mA (.5A) if wired in parallel. Series-parallel combinations are also possible, giving some of the benefits of each method. This would probably better understood by doing a quick search on Google Images for series, parallel, and series-parallel. You CAN connect the solar panels directly to your battery bank with no regulator. Unfortunately, without a regulator, the connection is two-way. When the sun is out and the solar panels are producing more voltage than the batteries, the batteries will charge. However, when the panels are producing less voltage than the batteries, the batteries will instead send power into the solar panels, which will be dissipated and wasted. The panels may charge your batteries during the day, but they will discharge them at night.
Q:Solar panels IRS refunds?
The Tax Lady is almost always right, but I must disagree on the $500 limitation concerning a solar electric system (from the price, it sounds like that's what the original question was about) installed in 20. If there was such a change, there would have been an outcry on the solar installers' forum I visit, just as there was jubilation when the limit on the tax credit was removed a few years ago.
Q:Solar Energy Panels, a good idea?
The panels are relatively easy to install. The batteries and the inverter tend to be heavy and you will need many people or mechanical assistance. You are talking about high current DC thus if you touch the wrong wires it's CC (Cancel Christmas - Rescue Squad Term). You also also dealing with lead acid batteries so they need to be well ventilated or we have another CC situation. Should you have a short, the batteries will overheat and explode projecting sulfuric acid... And the best part is when all is said and done, you are only paying twice to three times the cost for the electric over the life of the system as compared to buying the electric from the power company.
Q:Connect Power Outlet to Solar Panel?
You will need at least 500 W of solar panels (probably more to cope with cloudy days), and a DC to AC inverter. Since you're going to 8pm you *may* want a battery bank system too for those shorter winter days.
Q:Solar Panel and Wind Power?
I live in the Southwest where the sun shines almost every day. I got a quote for Solar system to produce about enough to cover my annual usage. My annual average electrical usage costs about $2300, or about $90/MO. The system costs around $30,000 but I can get rebates and some of your tax dollars in subsidies to bring my cost down to under $20,000. I can borrow $20,000 for 3 years at 7% and pay $95/MO, so in 3 years I will have the system paid for. As you can see, I don't start Saving any money for a long time. Maybe the rates will go up in later years which will help, but My friends that have solar systems tell me things like controllers go bad over time and they cost like $3000. Will it ever pay for itself? Maybe. Please note. This still does not get me off the grid. This system will not support things like an electric stove, air conditioning, Pool pump running, etc. so I still need the grid for when these operate and my usage peaks. If I installed a system that would totally support everything 24/7 the cost would be astronomical. If you live in the east, midwest, or NW where you have cloudy days, your economic calculations will be much less favorable I would think, unless your power costs are much higher than mine..
Q:Solar panels?
There are RV solar panels but they are mostly for extending the life of the batteries, you should still bring a generator. There are marine solar panels and wind turbines which are larger but many sailing yachts are larger too.
Q:What is maximum system voltage in solar panel?
System voltage is the total across the full chain of panels, when using multiple panels in series. It's what the insulation on the panel is rated to stand, to earth/ground, without breaking down. A device could have an output rating of V and still a 000V insulation rating. eg. if your 0W panel had an open-circuit voltage of 25V, the insulation is rated to stand up to 40 panels connected in series. (40 x 25 = 000V). And actually a 0W power source could be rated at 000V, if it's current rating was only 0 milliamps. (Though extremely impractical for a solar panel unit).
Q:solar panel efficiency in space?
Solar panels on spacecraft are a lot more efficient than ones made for home use. That doesn't include the effect of the atmosphere.
Q:Will a 2W, 2V mono solar panel power up a laptop battery?
I'm afraid neither of these panels will do much for charging or running your laptop. If the power brick is supposed to emit 5 volts at 5 amps, that's 75 watts. Neither of those panels provides enough voltage and the power output is obviously far too small. The capabilities of solar power are vastly overestimated for small panels. Sunlight is limited to about kilowatt per square meter under ideal conditions (summer time, clear blue sky, for a few hours around noon in the US southwest). But consumer panels top out at about 5% efficiency, so your limit is 50 watts per square meter - in other words you would need about half a square meter, or about six square feet, of panel to provide 75 watts. And even under ideal conditions you will only get that much for a few hours each day. Also, the panel's voltage output is not regulated, so even if you find a panel that emits 5 volts (this would actually have to be made up of groups of 30 cells in series, as they emit half a volt each at most) you can't just connect the panel output into your laptop's DC in. You'd need a regulated DC-to-DC supply, and since that is not 00% efficient it will cost a bit of the power... now you need even more panel area. All in all, not really a practical thing to carry along on a camping trip.
