Q:my carpet it is filthy. it has smelled since the day i moved in a month ago and the bottom of my feet are gray after walking on it. the apartment managers refuse to change it and have told me i can break the lease but i would be penalized. who do i contact to have my carpets tested or confirm that they're not up to standards??

The big question that comes to mind is why did you move in? If the place was filthy when you rented, then filthy is what you are paying for. You don't move into a low rent place and then tell them they have to fix it up to your standards. What you do is move into a nicer place and pay more rent. And get some Odoban from Sam's and now I see they have it at Walmart. Shampoo the rugs with it. It sanitizes and removes odors and will help and is remarkably cheap for how much it does. If it stinks, there is a need for the third cleaning. You just have to clean it with the right stuff and equipment. Your last solution is nose plugs and shoes.

Q:I have a Large area rug that I need cleaned. A woman that had a HOUSE TRAINED dog gave it to me. I want to clean it as the dog walked and layed down on this rug as well. The dog never urinated on this rug which is good. It just smells like dog so I want to get it cleaned. I don't think a rug doctor will do the trick. Does anyone out there know where I can take it to be cleaned. Again this a LARGE. thanks. Or if you have used a rug doctor or s specific cleaner to remove (not cover up) the odor please let me know what works for you.

Q:just found out my light turnout rugs from last year to keep my horses protected from the wind and rain as they live out all year but they are kinda stinky as theyv been storred in the yards shed, the writing on the tag has wore away so i cant see what it says about washing them?they are amigo light turnouts.do you wash yours in any particular way? and what do you use to wash them in?

My lightweight Amigo rugs fit in my washing mashine. Use a 30C wash and Nikwak rug wash. I then like to add an extra rinse cycle before washing in Nikwax rug proofer on a 30C wash. ( no need to dry between treaments) I hang them over a rotary airer to dry. The specialist wash liquids cost about ?7 per rug whereas local rug cleaners charge ?18 to wash and reproof and you do have to reproof turnout rugs. If the rugs are really filthy I do a prewash with non bio wash liquid and then give an extra rinse cycle.

Q:Every summer, my horse gets attacked by the flies on her belly and no creams seem to help. I was looking for an attachment onto her rug which allows her belly to be covered... but couldn't find one - can anyone suggest anything that might help me? Thank you.

Q:I have several dogs! Im not sure but isnt partical board that wood thats under the carpet.

Sprinkle dry baking soda around, let set overnight then vacuum. Not much is going to get it out of carpets. The carpet AND PAD are causing the odor.
