Q:Need Help, 2v Solar Panel for Emergency?
I okorder.com okorder.com/... well, I can't find what I have anymore - but anything that will attach to a car charger will attch to it. Now, a radio - if it charges now, you're good - but if it doesn't already charge ---- well, you could charge rechargable batteries with it, I guess.
Q:Do you know that China is the largest producer of solar panels in the world?
Solar voltaic panels are not 30,000 dollars each, a good panel, 24.4Vmp, times 95 watts, is about 900 dollars. Solar electric generation, makes sense, not because of the myth that the energy transmission companies 'buy' the energy you produce in excess (energy companies, zero out the balance at the end of the year, so that it only makes sense to design a system that equals your needs, not exceeds them). Solar electrical generation, is the future of energy freedom, but the powers that be, do not have yours' and my economic freedom in their portfolio. They are actively pursuing the globalization, to push down the working class, to the 'post industrial age', where the working classes, can once again, be relegated to serfdom, while the super rich, drink DOM, and watch us toil in the sun.
Q:How long does it typically take for solar panels to pay for themselves?
It's generally stated that it takes 0 years for them to pay for themselves. But the concept of paying for themselves is a primitive concept used by those who do not understand finances. You're still losing money when it pays for itself. A more appropriate analysis would be the Internal Rate of Return calculations, Excel makes this calculation easy. Overall, solar power is expensive power and works out about 38 cents per kwh ( proper economic estimates typically place it between 23 cents to 45 cents per kwh ). Some idiot here will insist solar doesn't cost that much per kwh, it does unless you're uneducated in finance. Note, it's also not clear if the energy produced by solar panels exceeds the energy required for their manufacture, delivery and installation. It takes a lot of energy to melt silicon and the costs triple if you try to recycle the toxic wastes which is why the panels are made where it's still possible to dispose of the toxic wastes. They could very well be causing more environmental damage then they save. With the Europeans what happens is the feed in tariffs makes the solar panels worthwhile. They still don't really pay for themselves but they allow you to take some of the tax money from your neighbors, a bit of an ethical dilemma really but ethics never stopped Europeans.
Q:is it feasible to create a solar panel that could harness more of the suns energy than what they can now?
If you're asking whether we can make more efficient solar panels, the answer is obviously yes. Solar panel efficiency has been slowly but surely increasing every year, although the theoretical limit is being approached (but has not yet quite been reached) by crystalline silicon devices.
Q:Can I plug a solar panel into a wall socket to lower my electric bill?
You're quite right that the solar panel can't be directly connected. I sense that you want to start small, but unfortunately, it's hard enough to make a system with a dozen or more panels pay back. (It can, we have a system...) But with just one panel, maybe a small one, the economy of scale is gone. You need to buy a grid-tie inverter, which watt-for-watt will be more expensive than a regular size one, and for a small panel, the $$/watt value will be poor. There are some [illegal in most places] tiny grid-tie inverters that I see advertised on the web from time to time, with an ordinary plug that goes into the wall. Those are generally against electrical codes, and the danger is real. There is also a crop of micro-inverters being sold by companies such as Enphase. These are legitimate products, but will still be costly per watt, and ultimately, it will be hard to have a net savings over time with just one panel. Have you already taken the conservation steps like LED light bulbs, efficient appliances (especially refrigerator), insulation, and using a power strip to turn off loads that are not being used? That stuff isn't sexy, but saves money fast.
Q:Why do people use solar panels?
All of the above plus freedom and being part of the solution instead of the problem. Energy is doing nothing but costing more. Once you buy a solar panel your price is frozen for the life of the solar cell. They last at least 30 years maybe up to 50
Q:Solar panels on the roof?
Just had them installed on a development of 4 homes and they look goood! So far each user has free electricity during daytime for 3/4 of the year. If you live in a hot country - that's free A/C to keep you cool. The downside is that it is grid-tied so there is no storage, which means that if you use electricity to cook the evening meal - you don't get that free. What we advise to do instead is to make use of slow cookers that cook meals during the day - for FREE, and just serve it up in the evening as it keeps the heat. It would be more effective if you used storage radiators and heated hot water tanks for washing/bathing using it but this hasn't been added yet. It's free power all day - so what is there to complain about? The only catch I have found is that some power companies charge YOU if you export power to the grid - so just watch out for that, and design your system to avoid this if this applies, but most just don't pay anything - so you may as well use what you get.
Q:Solar panels single crystal and double crystal in the rain which is easy to use
From the cost of production, than the monocrystalline silicon solar cells to be cheaper, easy to manufacture materials, saving power consumption, the total cost of production is low, so get a lot of development. In addition, the polysilicon solar cell life than monocrystalline silicon solar cells shorter. From the performance and price ratio, monocrystalline silicon solar cells also slightly better.
Q:Making solar panels bad for the environment?
It is like running a single large power plant instead of all of us having our home small fossil fuel electricity generators. You can have better and effective environment at a single source at large scale then at smaller sources. Most would just not care much. On separate line if the solar panels were to become more common in use, industries will be efficient and environment friendly ways to make them. Thus increasing their effectiveness as good green cause.
Q:I'm have a DIY solar panel and wanted to use micro inverters?
