- That is a good answer, however, the shuttle tiles illustrate that great things can be done with ceramics, if we have sufficient motivation. Many of the newer super conductors are sort of ceramics, but brittle is a problem. A break though could mean up to half of the electrical copper is replaced by super conductors, as copper has been doubling in price every few years, and aluminum has several annoying problems. True, ceramics are metal compounds, but most of those metals are not competing with steel for structural, for several reasons. Running out fast is relative not in this century, but prices adjusted for inflation have doubled in recent years, perhaps mostly due to NIMBY not in my back yard, but large scale ceramic manufacturing may not be a desirable neighbor either. - Well, I didn't take ceramics until junior college, but--yes--it can be fun. Every high school does things differently, so I can't tell you for sure exactly what your class will be like. You will probably do both hand building and work on the potters' wheel. Maybe you will mix your own glazes from chemicals, but you will probably use pre-mixed glazes from jars. Probably the teacher, or the teacher's aide, will do the actual firing (in the kiln--a really hot oven that goes over 2000 degrees F) for you, but in some classes they teach students how to load and run the kilns. In order to have the most fun with the class, do the regular assignments, but also think ahead about what kinds of things that you'd like to make, and then ask the teacher to give you pointers on how to make whatever it is that you have in mind.

- The difference is quality. Ceramic and tourmaline irons are better for the hair because they produce ionic heat, which heats the hair from the inside out, unlike stainless steel which heats hair from the outside. Infrared heat also heats the hair from the inside out. Ionic and infrared heat are much better for the hair. The problem with non-professional irons is that the heating plates (the part of the iron that gets hot) are only coated with a very thin layer of ceramic, which wears off after a while. Professional irons have a thicker ceramic or tourmaline coating. So a drug-store ceramic iron may work great for a while, but they're not built to last as long as professional irons.

- Q:I‘m getting me my own straightener and i would like to know which type of plate is healthier for my hair. I would also like to know which one would make my hairy silky,shiny,no-frizz type of straightener. Which flat iron BALM should i use too? - In general, ceramic plates are the best for all hair types, but if your hair is frizzy then get a tourmaline ceramic or if your hair is thick and tough to straighten then get a titanium ceramic flat iron. Either one, get a karmin, lol. Those have the most heat settings and features. Plus you get a heat mat and a bag aaaaand a moneyback guarantee if you order it from the right places. - Don't get it on the tire treads or you will slide out and crash. One way to remove the slipperiness is to ride it on a gravel road. This acts like sandpaper on the tread, unfortunately, you still have to ride it to the gravel road and this could be dangerous.
