As i am in mexico and there is always high sun . i think it is a good idea.Usage of the batteries is very light . I have found 5-2V pannels with 80mA that fit in the sailboat. I want to know if and how i can have like 5 to 0 of them set together to charge the batteries and what other material would i need.also, i would like to know what happend if the pannels only send on 5V in a 2 V battery? - 0 of the panels wired in parrell will give you enough power to trickle charge the batteries. You will need a charge controller to prevent a overcharge from damaging your batteries. A panel array that is rated at 2 volts actually puts out a unregulated voltage up to 2 volts. I have bought some charger controllers from OKorder at good prices. They will also prevent the discharge of your batteries at night or when the panels are in the shade. If the panels only put out 5 volts they will not charge the batteries. Check each panel outside in the sun with a DC volt meter for proper operation before connecting them.

- 3-T is just one type of many devices designed to control voltage so you get the amount you desire with as little static as possible. Without you having an degree in engineering, I can't explain it to you any better. You will also need to produce true sine wave energy or you will burn out your PSP with the correct volts and amps. You need one to produce only 5 volts 2amps. Anything different will burn out yur PSP. Your problem is simple math. Watts = volts multiplied by amps. Amps = Watts divided by volts. So if your solar panels can produce /4 amp ( 250 mA) each, then you connect one to the other in a series until you get enough connected to make 2A. ( 8 panels { /4mA x 8 = 2A}) You now have a panel with 32Volts, 2Amps, 64 Watts. This is where the T-3 regulator comes in. If you buy one for 5 volts, it will allow only 5 volts 2 amps, to go to your PSP.

- yes they are very recyclable, and you would actually be suprised at how much you get back from them just as materials, as there are still very valuable materials in them.... Often solar shops will accept them back for at a fraction of what you paid, as they can send them back to the manufacturer who then do all the material stripping in them and recycle all the materials there. Mainly depends what type of solar panels you have.... Most probably poly-chystalline or mono-chystalline. If they are that cool blue or black psychadelic looking panel also the manufacturing make that effect is also costly so they would probably look to buying that as well.. I would ask a solar shop where it can be done as the silicon in them are still a very prescious substance..... I would definatly not throw them out or pull them apart just yet

- LOL!! There is a lot more to this than you might imagine. This is a very rough approximation but look at the attached and column labeled 6.3KW. Look down that column and you see where it says Est. First Year KWH Generated ,025. So if we were to assume that each month it will produce ,025/2 kwh. (not true for January but I am trying to keep this simple. The installed price without any rebates is $44,050. ;-) Sorry! You will find some a little cheaper... some a little more expensive but none are a LOT cheaper than this. (this price does not even include energy storage, so the sun goes down and you will stop producing electricity). This is why, when people start looking at this sort of thing, they always do what they can to conserve electricity first. It is always much cheaper to conserve, then worry about alternate energy.
