Q:I recently purchased a new power cable for my HP laptop (v6000 series) due to the disappearance of my old one. When I first plugged in the laptop, I noticed that it did not charge. I thought this might just be due to the fact that the battery has been dead for an extensive amount of time, but after leaving the computer plugged in over night, nothing has changed. What can I do to make my laptop's battery charge?Do I need to have a more powerful power cable?Thank you all for your help.
by power cable im assuming you made sure to purchase the correct model, and that you mean the cable, along with the transformer connected to it? (ac plug transformer cord laptop) if everything's plugged in, your charge icon on your laptop should let you know with some sort of animated plugged in/charging icon. if the charger is known to be good, then unfortunately you may have a loose/bad dc receptacle in your laptop. the port where you plug in the cable sometimes comes loose from wear and tear and the connection fails. try gently jiggling it around to see if it comes on when its plugged in. if it is bad, you can take it to a computer tech shop and they can fix it. just a thought.
Q:in the system unit
The data cable is used to pass data ( digital information ), but the power cable is used to give the power (electricity) to the device
Q:Alright, im most likely moving to Germany in December, and im bringing my PS3 over with me. That I bought here in the US.. Is it possible for me to buy the power cable for a PS3 that works in Germany and plug it into my current PS3, or will it short it out?
It won't short out, cause it will only take certain power
Q:I have a Karcher power washer which was left outside over night. An animal chewed threw the power cable and so is unusable. I was wondering how to re-connect the power cord together, safely. I do not want to cross wires and use electrical tape. I was thinking of using a connector, but unsure of whether to use a two pinned or three pinned connector.
You can install a plug on the cord to replace the one that was chewed off. Choose one with the same number of prongs as the cord has wires (2 or 3). Be sure to attach each wire to the correct terminal! Splicing the cord is also OK, and tape would not be a problem if applied properly, but I prefer to use heat-shrink tubing. When I do a top-grade splice, I first twist the wires tightly together without making a tail, then I solder them.
Q:I looked on 3 of my friends plus mine and looked at the cord that comes from the big block power supply thing for the xbox 360 and every one of them looked differant. Why is that?
one of them are for a regular tv and the other is for hd. if you look at the top of the cord( where it gets pulged into the xbox) there is a switch that says tv and hd. if you pulg in tv and switch the switch to hd you will notice you can't see anything
Q:Where can I buy a power cable with converter for a Dell Inspiron 2200?
Try okorder and select your region. Browse there Notebook and Mobility Solutions and they may have what you are looking for.
Q:I just bought a new video card and it requires a power supply and i have the cables but im lost on where to put them.
You use an open power plug from the power supply. If there isn't an extra one, you need a splitter.
Q:So my computer monitor keeps flickering on and off and I'm pretty sure the cable just needs to be replaced. My concerns or questions are,-Are all power cables compatible, or do I need a specific one for my model?-If not compatible, how do I tell what type of monitor I have or what it's model is?Deeply appreciated,Lauren
Hi Lauren, Dell monitors use the same power cable as the system tower does. They are interchangeable. You may try swapping the power cables of the monitor and the tower to be sure that the cable is faulty. Hope this helps. Regards, GauravS
Q:Do you know what type of power cable fits this ?
idk
Q:I purchased a LCD TV the other day and ran a cable line to it (via crawl space). I had to use a splitter to connect the new TV. I connected the cable directly to the TV and then the power cable to the outlet which “popped” and the power went out (breaker trips). I connect the TV power cable to a surge protector and the power goes out again (surge protector wasn’t even on). So I disconnect the cable from the tv and connect the power. Everything is fine until I try and connect the cable...let’s just say the spark was bright and hot enough to melt part of the connector on the TV! So I return the TV and get a different brand and the same thing happens when I plug it into a surge protector. To begin narrowing out possible problems I connect the cable to a regular 10 year old TV with no problems. It is a brand new cable with no cuts or fraying. Any suggestions?
Something is seriously wrong, and you may need to get an electrician on the problem. You need to check the voltage between your set and the cable with a meter. There should be little or no measurable voltage. If you are getting a reading like 115 volts, then I suspect that the wall outlet into which your TV is plugged has been wired backwards, i.e. the black wire is on the white terminal, and vice-versa. The cable is (or should be) grounded where it comes into the house, but if the outlet has the hot wire on the wrong side, this might cause the problem you described. The wrong connection could have occurred anywhere along the line between your main panel and the outlet, so this may involve checking the connections at several outlets and light fixtures - whatever is on the same circuit as your TV's outlet.
