SITE SELECTION

In most applications, the PV modules should be installed in location where there is no shading throughout the year. In the Northern Hemisphere, The PV modules should typically face south, and in the Southern Hemisphere, the PV modules should typically face north. Please make sure that there are no obstruction in the surroundings of the site of installation. Take proper steps in order to maintain reliability and safety, in case the PV modules are used in areas such as: Heavy snow areas/Extremely code areas/ Strong wind areas/Installation over, or near, water/ Areas where installations are prone to salt water damage (*)/Small islands or desert areas.(*)

If you are planning to use the PV modules where the salt water damage may be possible consult with CNBM local agent first to determine an appropriate installation method, or to determine whether the installation is possible?

TILT ANGLE

The title angle of the PV module is the measured between the PV module and a horizontal ground surface. The PV module generates the maximum output power when it faces the sun directly.

For the standalone systems with a battery where the PV modules are attached to a permanent structure , the tile angle of the PV modules should be determined to optimize the performance when the sunlight is the scarcest. In general, if the electric power generation is adequate when the sunlight is the scarcest, then the angle chosen should be adequate during the rest of the year. For grid-connected installations where the PV modules are attached to a permanent structure, it is recommended to tilt the PV module at the angle equal to the latitude of the installation site so that the power generation from the PV module will be optimum throughout the year.

Q:What is a good sight that I could go to about installing solar panels and all of the considerations of it?
Biggest problem is availability of sunshine in the UK. Do you get enough to warrant the fuss or financial layout? Another problem is the orientation of your roof. Facing directly south, with a slope (in degrees) equal to your longitude would be ideal. As far as electricity goes, you have to be tied into the grid to take care of the times you are not generating all the power you need. When you are generating more than you need, you sell it but get paid at the rate the utility normally pays, a lot less than you would pay to buy from them. Still, it's something.
Q:Okay so.. if light deflect the light of the sun and black absorbs it, then aren't solar panels just absorbing more light, sun and heat into our atmosphere? Wouldn't this lead to an increase in global warming? Shouldn't solar panals be white? No rude answers please.
If the panels are deployed at outer surface of atmosphere then white will reflect the sun light to outer space. If the panels are deployed at earth surface, inside the atmosphere, most of the reflected light will be bounced back to earth by the atmosphere. For the solar panels we are talking about, they need to be dark color to absorb light and turn into electricity.
Q:what size would the panel be/ I live in the caribbean so plenty of sun!
What does the advertisement have to do with your question? Yes; BUT, depending on the pump, you may need several panels and possibly an inverter if it is an AC pump. You will ALSO need at least battery in the circuit to provide a load to the panel.
Q:how much energy or electricity a solar panel produces?
First, okorder /... Second, as a general rule of thumb, you can generate at most 00 watts of power (.Kwh) per 2 square feet of roof space. I have had to revise my own estimates after building a solar array in my yard using high grade solar panels. Solar panels do not put out their peak rating all the time. NOTE: I am not paid nor given any compensation by solar interests.
Q:I'm looking at solar panels and I have NO IDEA what this stuff means. They come in catagories of Watts. What does that refer to? If a solar pannel is in the 200-watt catagory, what does that really mean? Will it produce 200 watts an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year?? How many watts of energy does the average house use up in one month? I really wish they would just tell me on the website!! :(0 points!!!!!!!! :D
Watts is a measurement of power which is a combination of Voltage x Amps Example: a 200 Watt panel can produce 6.6 amps at 2 Volts. (200 = 2 x 6.6) If you bought a 24 volt system the same 200 Watts would give you half the amount of amps since the power (watts) is the same. When determining your needs for a solar system there are many factors that have to be taken into account. The amount of power you use will depend on what appliances you have in the house, how much you use them, and how careful you are with vampire loads (A TV or stereo will use some power even when turned off unless you unplug them). The amount of panels you need will also depend on your battery system, amount of sunlight that you have in a day and how many days of reserve power you think you will need based on the weather in your area. If you wanted to completely run your house on solar energy you are looking at an investment of $5,000 - $20,000 or even more. There sometimes are tax incentive depending on where you live that will reduce your overall cost. Some examples of power usage: Toaster : 800-500W Microwave : 600-500W Dishwasher : 200-500W Washing Machine : 500W Vacuum Cleaner : 200-700W Iron : 000W Clothes dryer : 4000W Ceiling Fan : 0-50W Table Fan : 0-25W Electric Blanket : 200W Hair Blow dryer : 000W Electric Shaver : 5W Laptop Computer : 20-50W Desktop Computer : 80-50W TV (9 colour) : 70W Clock radio : W Fridge / Freezer : 500W 25 colour TV : 50W Electric Kettle : 2000W
Q:how long till a 50 watt solar panel pays itself off in buffalo, ny if its $500. i have national grid and heres the link to the rates. i am residential.
the Department of Energy has a ' solar hours calculator for locations around the US factoring in hours of sunlight.....the other factor is how perpendicular to the sun the panel is.....as a wild guess I'd say Buffalo's solar hours factor is about 3....which means as an average over 365 days you get 3 hours a day of maximum ( 50 watts ) output. So 3 x 50 x 365 = 64.25 kWh a year. At, say, 5 cents a kWh, you're making $24.63 a year worth of electricity. See why the houses of upstate New York..let alone Ohio or Virginia or Georgia.....aren''t covered in panels?
Q:I thought they were going to make solar powered cars and solar power plants among other things. It was only nearly 0 years ago that solar power was the big thing. Just curious, why did it die out?
The technology did not die out. It is in fact quite alive and well, and there exist many different manufacturers of solar panels and devices utilizing them. The problem is that the technology has not yet advanced sufficiently to generate large amounts of power with solar panels, at least not with panels of any practical size and weight. You can easily buy a panel which will trickle-charge your car's battery during the day, but nothing that can generate anywhere near the power required to actually move a car's mass at any significant speed. You would need to buy panels with a very large surface area to make any significant amount of power, and these panels would be very heavy and very expensive.
Q:. Do they scratch easily? How do I remove snow from them without scratching them?2. What does the upkeep of many solar panels consist of? I want to have my electricity completely off of the grid.3. Are all solar panels made from the same material, regardless of size?
anythign can be scratched/ruined/altered if not tended to properly.... remove the first biggest layer of snow and leave a lil under to try to see first if it melts away on its own (dpeendin what season of course) if not than get some luke warm water and soak the snow.... slosh it off with a rubber shovel or mop.broom whatever wont damage ur panels. anythign you take care of will last longer and take care of you.... and solar is expensive to put in and can be expensive to maintain . depends where you have most sun and depends how many resources you use, if you leave the tv on absent mindely all night and take 50 min showers or blast the heat with jsut on epathetic lil donwpour of rain instead of just BUNDLING UP like a alot of lazy *** ameicans and.or rich careless bastards of course youa re goign to be paying up and out of your asshhhhh-hooooo and nooooo there are some different materials solar panels are made of, there is a main base/core they use but im sure there are AT MOST two...the rest is either glass or plastic! depends for what you want and how many , includign size.... good luck!!!! excuse my typos
Q:Does San Francisco get enough sunshine to really make solar panels a viable option for creating a self-supporting home? Certainly a wind turbine would be a good source of energy, but what about solar panels? Does S.F. get enough sunshine to justify using solar panels? It's overcast a lot in the Bay Area, are there any solar panels better than others for a climate like this?
Yes, San Francisco gets enough sunshine. That will vary depending on your site location, some are better than others. The best way to find out how much electricity your specific location can generate is to get a quote from a solar company. I am in the process of getting PV's installed on my home in the Sacto area and got quotes from 3 companies. My home is in a good, not optimal possition and depending on where on the roof I place the panels my efficiency will vary. Also depending on the brand of panels, some will take less square footage on the roof to produce the same amount of electricity. The price on all 3 were very close to each other. All 3 companies I dealt with gave a no cost/no obligation quote, and they were are very knowledgeable about the specific utility rebates I would be eligable for. I say it is well worth the time to check it out. My system should be going onto my roof in just a few more weeks. I was able to get nearly 50% of my cost refunded by my utitlity, plus my federal tax rebate. My system should be paid for in about 6 years.
Q:Is this true in a dc system? What if my battery current is negative?
complex task. browse in google and yahoo. that could help!
