Q:Can I made my own solar panel?
If you're thinking of solar electric, unfortunately, it's not cost-effective to make your own panel. Be especially wary of scams like Earth4Energy that claim you can do it cheaply and effectively. If it was so easy, you'd see at least a few people in your neighborhood doing it.
Q:solar panels and batteries?
If it pulls 9 amps continuously, that's 08 watts/hour or about 2.5 kwh/day. If it only pulls half that (does it cycle?) it's about .2 kwh/day. You only want to drain a lead-acid battery 50% or so, so you'll want a 5 or 2.5 kwh battery pack. A typical setup for the 5 kwh would be two L-6 batteries in series, and for the 2.5 kwh you could use 2 T-05 batteries in series. This does not account for days of cloud. If you regularly have cloudy days, size the battery pack for two or three days of use with no input (2-3 x the sizes given above). To charge them, you typically want panels that will charge your battery at least 5% of its capacity per hour (C/20). For 2 volt nominal panels that's 0 amps for the T-05 or 20 amps for the L-6 batteries. It's good to have more than that for battery life (it cuts down on what's called stratification), so you'll want probably 50-200 watts of panels for the T-05 and 300-400 for the L-6. You'll also need a charge controller. Peltier coolers are very inefficient. You'll save money by using a regular mini-fridge and an inverter. Most mini-fridges only draw 50 watts or so, so you're talking 600 watt-hours for a 50% duty cycle. This means two T-05 batteries will give you two days of use and you'll only need 20-50 watts of panel. DK
Q:Advice on Solar Panel....................................?
I okorder.com/
Q:how much energy does a 70x70 sq ft area of solar panels collect?
Considering capital outlays, such a system might never recover its initial investment. That's why we don't see such small photovoltaic plants popping up around the country - the economic case isn't there. One of the problems is that you would have to sell your electricity wholesale, at a ridiculously low price like 2 cents / kWh. If you were displacing electricity that you would otherwise use, then the financial case is different. Retail electricity could be 20 cents / kWh, 0 times as much, and you could get your money back over time, and start to make a profit. I've assumed you're in the US, with no special feed-in tarrifs. If you're in a country with a premium rate for solar-generated electricity, the business case could be very different.
Q:Is photovoltaic array another name for solar panels?
Yes or one could say that Solar Panel is a simple and easy way to say photovoltaic array.
Q:can I connect my pool pump to a solar panel?
Do you live in a cold place in the Carribean? If it's anything like Hawaii, a pool heater, solar or otherwise, is unnecessary. As for the electricity to run your pool pump, I think the best course is to run it off the same electricity as your house, not a standalone system. You can then displace some of the electrical usage of your house with grid-tied solar, if it makes financial sense. There's a good chance of this if your electric rates are high. Contact a local solar installer to find out.
Q:Does anybody know if there are any courses for solar panel installation, and/or what trades you need for this?
What you ought to recognize will depend on WHAT sort of installations you're going to be operating with. In regular, for business you wish to have fundamental mechanics and wiring. For house, you may additionally want a few carpentry, roofing, preserving structural integrity, plumbing, and so on. In side it additionally will depend on what sort of sun installations you're doing, (vigour, air warmers, water warmers, and so on.)
Q:I would like some info on Solar panels and Wind Generators...please?
The best sort of solar panel for $ to energy is the hot water type that use a vacuum tube system to heat your water. This saves you money on heating water and is relatively cheap to install compared to other things like wind or PV solar. I'm not too sure about where you live (I'm in the westcountry of the UK where wind energy IS viable... but usually it isn't). The best sort of Photo voltaic solar panel (that makes electricity)is still expensive yet very reliable as they only need photons to fall on them not neccessarily full sunshine and they are improving all the time. It depends on the pitch of your roof as to whether snow settles on them. One can have a system that sells power back to the national grid and then you buy what you need with a discount for what you produce. Obviously if you can afford enough panels one could even make a profit. Or you can go self-sufficient, but then you need batteries and an inverter to convert your 2 volt battery output back to 20 volts or whatever you use (it's 240 volts in the UK). Then it's a matter of how efficient your batteries are in amp hours. Dry mainainence free deep cycle batteries are best for this job and quite expensive still. Wind generators are only really practical if you can mount them high enough from the ground to where there is more constant wind. As I said that depends where you live and the prevailing winds. The very small ones are basically useless except for emergency lighting or something, so one needs a fairly large turbine to produce enough power for a modern home so planning restrictions should be considered when going down this road. For now, solar power is definitely the way to go, even as far North on this planet as Canada and the UK. Good luck. Once you have the system it's basically FREE energy!
Q:information on solar panels?
The main components for a solar electric system are the panels, racks for mounting the panels, and inverter to convert the panel's DC power to AC, which can be pumped into the grid if necessary. There would also be various electrical supplies involved - wire, conduit, possibly a switch and/or circuit breaker. On the paperwork side, there's a building permit, permission from the power company to connect, and some inspections. Although it could be done by a homeowner, it's not a trivial project, and the best way to get it set up is to contract a professional solar installer. They all give free quotes, and can explain your various options when they visit.
