- Q:I have these sand cranes that always come up to our house and we feed them bread they never were aggressive but now one certain one is getting more aggressive. We have a screened porch and they come up to it and there putting holes in it to get our attention and there making like a noise thats not that normal when they see us. The one certain one is getting more aggressive towards the other birds poking on the them and chasing them. There is a group of four and they always stay together. the other three arent as aggressive as the one. He is bigger then the rest of them and is almost like the boss you could mostly tell he was before. He always let the other eat first while he watched around and when we gave them bread he used to be the last one up there now hes the first one there and literally runs to us when he sees us.
- Sounds like the aggressive is the Dominate male of the herd. I know you like to feed them but that's what started the problem. He is being Dom so he can get more food and be the first to eat. Once they figure out you're not going to feed them they will go back to behaving normal. These are cool to look at, even though they can get loud sometimes. Have you ever seen tourist feed sea-gulls at the beach. Locals don't do it. Sea Gulls will get as aggresive as the Sand Cranes and actually dive bomb people. - Q:A crane operator was extended his Tadano crane boom(two section of boom out of five) at almost 0 degree boom angle. My question is-Is it safe to lift any load at 0 degree boom angle.
- I suppose Tadano is the manufacturer and they make several models most of which are safe at zero degrees with two sections extended. The weight of the extended cable and hook need to be added to the weight being lifted or lowered, so the allowable weight could be zero for a very long cable. Some safety factor is present, so you may choose to push your luck. A cable that breaks suddenly can whip around in a dangerous manner. If you bend the boom replacement will be very costly. If the boom was bent in a previous lift, it is much weaker than an unbent boom and the extending feature may jam. Neil
- Q:I can't seem to find the item I'm looking for on-line. Maybe some fellow crane operator happens to know where I can find this. It's a quick releasing crane hook, it drops the load on cue. I think it would probably be remote-controlled.
- What load rating are you looking for? I am familiar with heavy lift cranes and smaller ones that do not have any sort of release device that you are looking for. Most rated crane hooks have to be qualified to carry that load and any quick release feature could fail, dropping the load. Maybe you could find such a hook for a non-industrial application, but I have never seen anything like this in use.

- Crane okorder / I don't really like the crane stock batteries only because they are a mess to put into the gun and taking them out is only a bit better. If you're not a spray-and-prayer, a small nunchuck/butterfly battery would do just fine.
