Q:I have a rug that my sister gave me as a gift. The colors are perfect for my home and it's the perfect size for where I need it. But there's a problem - it's in a high traffic area (landing on the stairs) and it won't stay put. It creases in the center and gets pushed up against the wall as the traffic goes by - causes safety hazard because now we're tripping all over it, and i'm getting so tired of bending down to straighten it. I know it probably wasn't an expensive rug, but I would hate to throw it out. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it to stay on the carpet? I was thinking about gluing some thing on the bottom corners to weight it down.... maybe that's a crazy idea. I was also thinking maybe there's a way to attach it to the carpet, like a safety pin.... probably crazy too because then i'd just end up with holes in my carpet. Maybe someone more creative has an idea or knows of a cost effecient product that could help me.
The thing I did when I had this problem, was used double sided tape. Get the kind that is about 2-3 wide and run a strip of that all along the sides of your throw rug. Hopefully, that will work. You should be able to find that at a store such as Menard's. There are these rubber type runners that also work to hold rugs in place. But I'm not sure they work on carpet. I know they work well on vinyl flooring and tile. If worst comes to worst, and you really don't want to move this rug to a different area, I suppose you could use a staple gun to staple it down. You would have to use a butter knife to remove the staples if you wanted to ever move it. Good luck, sounds like it's irritating right now.
Q:HOW TO TREAT RUG BURN?
cold rag and lotion for about 5-7 days
Q:So last night i was painting my nails and i got some nail polish on my carpet and i cant get it out. Please help.
If you have nail polish remover or acetone Dip a cotton swab in either and roll it over stain Keep changing the swab as it lifts out Hopefully this will lift the polish out and not remove the colour in the carpet
Q:Besides renting a rug doctor or other carpet machine
Maybe the Carpet Cleaner products would help.. Something like Resolve.
Q:my brother is balding, he wants to get a rug and says they look great......he can afford it but it costs a ton.....I said just shave your head...what do you think??.........carpet it or shave it clean?
Shave.
Q:I just moved into this house and im so paranoid about keeping the floor in good shape, i have a 1 year old and a puppy who are making it kinda hard. So, I need a rug, my living room isnt very big at all, and in fact the living room is kinda long, but not 'big'. I want a red rug, dont know where to search though, and it would be great if i got it at a low price too, what size is a 2x3 by the way? I found one for 20 bucks, but not sure if thats like the size of a rug you put at the entrance of your doorway? help please.
A 2-foot by 3-foot rug would be fine at your doorway, but it won't give the rest of the room any protection, just a place to wipe your feet when you enter the house. Your room-area rug can be as big as the room will accomodate...but the bigger the rug, of course, the more $$$ you'll have to invest. You could start with a 6-foot by 9-foot in front of your sofa, which you could probably get at Walmart/Target/K-Mart for around $125. It will be nylon, and it won't last an eternity, but it should do until your puppy matures! Then you could look at investing in a nicer rug that won't get chewed on...or you-know-whatted on.....Good luck!
Q:Can you lay new carpet over old carpet. Because of my age and health it is not possible for me to rip out the old; but I would like to lay down some new to freshen up my computer room.
Loose-laying new carpet over old carpet could cause several problems. First, the carpet could shift if it's just laid in over the old carpet and not secured down by stretching it over tackstrip. Also, having carpet pad and two layers of carpet laid on top of each other will increase the height of your floor substantially, which may cause you to have problems opening and closing doors into that room. It will also make the flooring in that room noticeably higher than that in the surrounding rooms. Finally, you stated in your question that due to age and health reasons you can't rip out the old carpet. If you're unable to rip out the old installation, I doubt that installing new carpet would be a good idea, since even a single room's worth of carpeting is very heavy, and installing it, even as loose-lay over existing flooring would require moving all of the furniture out of the room. If you're going to go that far, you should probably just hire someone to rip out the old carpet, install the new, and do it properly.
Q:I'm looking to hang about door size carpet pieces on my closet walls [don't ask why] and was wondering a good adhesive to use or if I should just use nails?
Regular carpet adhesive that you trowel on will work. But It ll tear the wall all to Heck when you go to remove the carpet. Maybe some carpet tackless that you can nail to the top and let the carpet hang straight down? Other than that just some finish nails.. GL
Q:I have a large family room - 25 x 16 feet. I currently have a 9x12 rug on one side and want to add another on the other side of the room. The rug that works best with my existing rug only comes in 5'8x9 or 8'8x10. The first seems a little small and the second a little big. Can you have two large rugs in one room or does that overpower the room? I would only have about 14 between the two rugs if I went with the larger rug. It seems like it would look like a little landing strip. But I don't want the small one to look like a postage stamp. What to do?
It depends on what you are going to put on it. You could turn the other rug so they won't be so close together.
Q:i have my own horses but i only have 3 rugs for each of them :turnout, cooler and stable.iv ecently been looking for new coolers on a website but i saw lots of different ones like travel rugs, fly sheets florecent exersize sheets etc.should i be buying all these or are they just different names for the ones i have allready?
i would buy a fly sheet, theyre really useful in the summer and as long as you have an exersize sheet, it doesnt really matter if its florsent or not. what have you previously been using to tarvel in? just carry on using that or a cooler with a circingle in the summer.
