This problem was permanently solved by Samsung as there is still warranty.I guessed that perhaps the wear tear that comes with the pressing the off button on the LCD monitor may have resulted in the humming buzzing noise.

- Your 1080p LCD HDTV's resolution is 1920x1080, which is what your Windows is set to display when you have your PC connected to it. If your monitor's native resolution is lower than that, it cannot display 1920x1080 and will display no image. Possible solution: While your PC is connected to your LCD HDTV, drop Window's resolution down to something low like 1024x768. Then attempt to connect it to your monitor. - either your monitor supports vga, hdmi, or dvi. u will have to use either one of those. which ever kind of system you use if it goes hand in hand with the kind of input you have on your monitor you will be able to use it. for usage of component video or antenna on our monitor you are gonna need a tv tuner box. i watch direct tv on my monitor using one of these. you can get an ok one at about $60. the best ones are more expensive. only difference is resolution support. (better picture quality)

- Mostly any LCD you can find will be able to be used as a monitor. It's now a standard norm that they have DVI, HDMI, VGA, etc. inputs on them, enabling them to double as a computer monitor. You probably won't find just a soul monitor that big, they will be equipped with tuners, but will probably cheaper than you could find a pure LCD monitor in that size. Best Buy, Circuit City, Ultimate Electronics, even Wal-Mart and Target's models should be adequate displays. :D Good luck!

- are you seeing a picture before it goes off? make sure the DVI or VGA cable is securely fitted into the monitor and the computer go to the menu and check that its power saving timer isn't set too low hope this helps

- Not by itself. For an analog only DVD player, you need a VGA TV tuner, or TV to VGA converter box. If your player supports component, a component to VGA converter box might work. If the DVD player has HDMI, and the monitor supports HDCP, you can use an HDMI to DVI cable, or an HDMI cable and DVI to HDMI adapter.

- Any LCD monitor will work completely fine with Vista. The only possible problem would be when trying to play protected video, you would need an HDCP compliant video card and cable through to the HDCP compliant monitor.
