Q:I have a small but thick silk rug next to the computer. Why are my cats trying to tear it up?
Dear Zelda, I hate to have to tell you this, but you don't have a small thick silk rug anymore. The cats do!! They have claimed it as their property will do with it as they please. It sounds like they are really enjoying it too. Who knows, maybe their goal is to Kill it! When they do, be sure to praise them. Cats Rule!! I have these fancy- schmancy catnip covered scratchers placed strategically throughout my house.....BUTT!! Tiki prefers the arms of 'his couch instead. Reasoning with him hasn't helped, so I ain't sweating it anymore. AND what IS up with Dready?! Hmmm, I guess the curtains are as good as any place to hang from. lol! I love my cats. I have this magnet on my refrigerator that my Mother-In-Law gave me years ago (when she realised who ran my home). It simply states : Everything in this house belongs to the cats! It's okay. As long as they don't jUmp up into the sky pull down the moon the stars.....every little thing is gonna be all right. Cats Rule!! AND Zelda.....that rug is theirs. [meaw]
Q:rugs and saddles?
Your link just goes to the main menu page so I didn't get to see which saddle you were asking about. Basically a good saddle, if looked after will probably outlast you ! Rugs can be complicated, I don't know what sort of weather you get but here in the UK my horses are out for most of the time ( they only come in a night in the worst part of winter and they don't like that much either !) I have full neck rugs for really nasty cold time and ones without necks for when it's just normal winter weather. They don't wear any rug during the summer as a rule but if it rains for long periods ( as it has this year) I put the lighter neckless rugs on them. If it got sweaty during riding in winter then towelling dry is a good idea and you can also get a cooler rug - this acts like a string vest and stops the horse getting chilled while he's cooling down. As your horse would be going straight back into the field it would be best to cool him down on the way back from your ride so he doesn't get home so sweaty. You can't just go throwing thick rugs on sweaty horses so you would need to walk him round in a cooler to get him dried off first. If this turned out to be a problem with you spending ages cooling him down you could get him clipped which would stop him getting soaked but then you would need a really good rug to make up for the lack of winter coat.
Q:Uh-Oh Bleached Carpet!?
I did this a few weeks ago when I was cleaning my toilet. We have blue carpet that is variegated, but there were several dots where the bleach had dropped on the carpet. I don't know if it would work for you, but I used a purple colored pencil and covered over that with a gray colored pencil. It's not perfect, but it's no longer visible to the naked eye. Unless you're down on your hands and knees looking for a spot :) Hope this helps somewhat. Try a tan colored pencil on one spot and just see what it looks like.
Q:Pee-proof floor covering / area rug?
This is an adult dog she's talking about not a puppy. I agree on removing the rug. I have three dogs who usually go outside to pee but occasionally will pee on my dining room area rug. I'm planning to remove the rug and go with the hardwood bare floor instead. They do go on pee pads too so unfortunately don't find much difference between a pad and a rug. I'm still looking for a rug they won't find attractive. They don't pee on my living room rug.
Q:Design question about rugs?
It depends on what you are going to put on it. You could turn the other rug so they won't be so close together.
Q:horses and rugs?
I rug all my horses here in Australia I use rugs made from shade cloth they are light breathable I find them to be cooler then cotton rugs Were i live is mozzie fly country Rugs also stop my show horses getting sun bleached, Keeps coat looking good But it is a personal choice if you wish to rug or not
Q:Soaked carpet! Need help ASAP?
Unless your shampooer is a professional unit, it will leave most of the water in the carpet. A professional unit has around 200 inches of lift, whereas a non-commercial unit will have around 25 of lift. Your other concern will the padding that is under the carpeting. Unless you pull up the carpeting/padding, the water will remain. If the water remains, you will encounter mold/mildew within 72 hours. It's important to get it up and get it dry!...After the carpet is up, padding is removed and water is removed, you need to use a high volume blower to complete the drying process. These blowers can be rented at equipment rental yards.
Q:Can you cut a rug????????
All rugs are usually stretched onto a tack strip when they are installled and will stay. If you have questions about this talk to a carpet installer.
Q:Antique rug, how do I clean it?
Hi, If your rug is worth that much I would have it professionally cleaned by a reputable person that specializes in cleaning persian or oriental rugs. It usually cost from 1-2 dollars a square foot. These companies have special tools that they dust the carpet with. They use compressed air with special tools that get out deeply embedded dirt that can make the foundation of your carpet dry and brittle. Often these companies have washing pits that the rugs are cleaned in that mimic how they were once cleaned in flowing rivers. They can dry your rug with air flow which is important to not leave a rug wet. They can inspect your rug for damage. Chemicals or steam cleaning should not be use as the natural oils of the wool are removed. Yes there is a market for these rugs so you should have it appraised by an experienced persian rug evaluator. Then you will have a market value if you decide to sell it but also for insurance purposes. Hope this helps.
Q:How to fix a good sized hole in a carpet?
cover it with a little carpet or put some furniture over it
