Q:hey just wondering is there any big difference between a rug with leg straps and a rug with a tail chord?
Leg straps will hold the rug in place more efficiently than a tail cord. The tail cord simply keeps the rug from slipping forward, while the leg straps will prevent slippage from side to side and shifting. The rug will fit much better with leg straps than with a tail cord. Some horses are so rambunctious that they will actually get the rug to flip forward over their rumps, rendering the tail cord useless. However it doesn't matter to some horses leg straps vs. tail cord. For example: my QH was a great boy; he was easy on his blankets and did not try to weasel his way out of them. He had a generous rump and I used a rug with a tail cord and had no problems. However, I then used that same rug on my TB, who wore the same size, and she flipped it over her rump. I went to the barn one day and there she was, with the rug completely inverted over her back. It also would shift all over the place, so I put leg straps on it, and it solved my problems. If adjusted correctly, leg straps are more beneficial.
Q:The carpet is dirty. How do you clean it quickly?
Carpet cleaningA certain proportion of flour, salt and gypsum powder, ratio (6:1:1), water heating and cooling into a paste to become dry bulk, and then pressed into small pieces, and in the carpet, and hard brush to rolling on the carpet, roll up into a powder, and then vacuumed the net.
Q:In the September catalog of Urban Outfitters they had photos of their room decor, furniture, etc. On the walls (they don't sell them the store) were these cool flowery rugs.
Hi there, I'm glad you asked. The rug in that photo is great. Some places might charge a lot of money for something like that, but I run an online website that sells mostly furniture, you know, coffee tables, end tables, etc. We do have a fairly good selection of rugs though and I'm looking at them now and we have a few that look just like that. Once you pick out your favorite, you can just order it online. No need to go to the store! I'm sure you'll love our prices too!
Q:are there any home made recipes i can use for removing stains out of the carpet?thanks.
when you're trying to remove a spot, you need to subtract, not add. vaccuum the carpet when it's dry. then use a damp white towel. If this isn't doing much, you can go to non-ammonia windex or rubbing alchohol. avoid any other detergents or over-the counter spot removers, as they can set spots in or cause bleaching(and yes, oxi- labeled cleaners can do that too). some spots are permanent, but if you avoid harsh chemicals, a pro will at least have a fighting chance. Using the harsh chemicals can eliminate that chance.
Q:I have two dogs and I am so tired of all the fur on the rugs.
There's no such thing. You either get fur stuck to the rugs, or you get large dust bunnies of dog fur in the corners if you have a hard floor.
Q:I'm looking for a rug to cover up the dining room carpet, just to lay on top but everything I find is very expensive. The rug doesn't have to be anything exotic, anyone have any affordable ideas? Or creative ways of turning something into a rug?
Check out the instructables website
Q:The other day I just found out that I had a hand-made rug that was made in Iran and bought by my grandparents about 10-15 years ago, the rug is about 6x8 and they paid around $2000 dollars for it.My question is what is the proper way to clean a rug that is hand-made? It has not been cleaned in years only vacuumed... and also is there a market place for these rugs? if I do decide I want to sell it.
The best way to clean an oriental rug is either to wash it yourself with bicarbionate of soda and vinegar, or farm it out to be washed by a company that specializes in oriental rugs. NEVER use detergent or a chemical cleaner, or dry clean, an oriental rug. All these substances will destroy the protective lanolin in the rug. A 6x8 would be really easy to do yourself. First, vacuum it face-down to loosen the deepest dirt, then right side up. You can either lay the rug on flat, clean concrete (not tarmac), or hang it over a couple of ladders or a fence. Then, rub bicarb all over it, then saturate with vinegar; it will foam up and push out the dirt. Rinse well. The advantage of doing it on a flat surface is you can squeegee it, then hang it. If over ladders, it may take a few days to dry.
Q:Is the bedroom carpet harmful to the health?
Well! Easy to breed mites and other pests
Q:So I have this cheap $20 rug from walmart thats teal. I did away with it for a while but now that I want my room redone, I want a black rug to go in front of a futon. How would I go about dyeing this rug instead of buying a new one and leaving this one to collect dust? It has a plastic wired bottom to hold the rug together and to act slip resistant. Would dyeing it affect it?
Whether dyeing would work depends on what fibre it's made of. If it's wool or cotton, it would dye quite well with ordinary dyes, though it might present a few difficulties since dyes usually call for being heated, and a lot of rinsing after. If it's a synthetic fibre, which it very likely is, it might not dye at all because synthetics don't absorb dye very well, if at all. If they do, they usually require processes that would be very difficult to achieve with a rug, such as heating the dye bath with the item in it. All in all, it's probably not worth even trying. Find a cheap black rug to buy.
Q:Whats all this nonsense i hear about shampooing carpets and such? can you really do that? and like, how? hah sorry apparently my friends mom was doing it to her carpet yesterday and i am bored and thinking about doing it to my carpet but i need to know how first :D
People call them carpet shampooers but they are actually carpet steam cleaners. Real carpet shampooers can cost over $1000, while most basic carpet steamers cost under $200. You can rent a Rug Doctor (or a similar brand) carpet steamer from home improvement stores (Ace, Lowe's, Home Depot, even some grocery stores) for about $20. The most important factor when steaming your carpet: steam-clean it only once. You may be tempted to steam-clean it numerous times, since you've rented the machine, but if you do this the carpet pad and the floor will remain wet and your carpet will smell moldy and musty. I own a Bissell Proheat 2X carpet steamer and I steam my carpets every 2 weeks, but then I have cats and a dog. When you rent a Rug Doctor, you can also buy the shampoo and other treatments at the same time. Or you can go to the carpet-steamer aisle and pick out your own favorite smell of liquid carpet cleaner. Or, if you are very careful, you can use a small amount of laundry detergent instead. Too much detergent, and it will remain in your carpet and actually attract dirt.
