- God, I love the English language...when I first read your question I had visions of horse skin floor rugs and was just going to check out all the smoke and flames, LOL!!! I'm in the US...my horses are out in the pasture at will with an 18' x 40' under roof with that they can get in as they wish. If it's going to be butt-freezing cold, (around 10 farenheit or lower or freezing rain, I bring them in to their stalls at night.) I don't use blankets (rugs) much... In summer months, I do use a lightweight fly sheet at times.

Some times places like HD have specials to install whole house for 99$. This will bring costs down a lot. Closer to the 800$ range. - you can go to any home improvement store and get that rubber gripping to put on the back of any rug...its not a solid piece but is more like netting...its quite dangerous to not have any rubber backing on the back of a rug on a hardwood or tile floor as they will slide...we use the rubber backing on the giant floor rug in our living room as well as at our front door...our wood floors are fine..
