Q:Help with Steel and Iron please?
Steel is an alloy composed of mainly iron and carbon. Pure iron is very rarely used anymore. Depend on the concentration of the carbon, you can get from wrought iron to high grade steel. For stainless steel, Chromium is added to the alloy to prevent rusting. Just go to wiki. you should be able to find a lot more about it
Q:Can raccoon bite through steel?
Well the raccoons can't bite through steel unless it is very thin steel, like aluminum foil thickness. But they have long arms and can reach into the cage so that would be my worry. They are also very clever so I don't know if it is safe for the bunny. That would depend upon the size of the cage and how hungry the raccoons are. The raccoons might be tempted to try to steal the bunny's food so that is a concern. Check with a pet shop owner or forester or someone like that who has knowledge about raccoons in the area.
Q:Greatest steel guitar songs in country music history?
the answer would could be chum Emmons..he's performed with a number of the excellent artists in Nastyville!!! he's the guy who made all those Ray fee songs so bone chilling.
Q:opinions on steel vs synthetic cable?
Steel is more dangerous, both in a fatal metal whip way and a metal splinters in my hand way. Steel weighs more. So why would anyone continue to use steel? Cost and care. Care: Steel can sit for years without having to worry about dry rot (as long as it's not out in too horrible of weather conditions). Steel is much more resistant to fraying. You don't have to baby steel so much to keep it in good conditions. Cost: As of right now, steel is less than half the cost of synthetic. A synthetic rope can cost as much as many electric winches which include a steel cable. I find that I don't use my winch nearly enough to warrent the extra care or cost of a synthetic. The weight savings would be nice, but I kind of ruined that a long time ago with the winch bumper, rock sliders, plate steel fenders/flares, belly armor and frame plating.
Q:what came first the steel smelter/furnace or the steel used to make it?
it is a problem to work metals thats why the first furnaces were for metals with a low melting point eg copper. To built a furnace for iron you need a very high temperature and for steel additional chemical treatment probably not available on an island. To smelt iron should be possible though as a clay furnace with the right coal is hot enough to produce raw iron.
Q:how to tell if its really stainless steel?
Magnets stick to some stainless but not all of it, so a magnet is not a reliable indicator.
Q:What material is strongest? Human bone, steel, or concrete?
Steel would smash a bone ,and concrete needs steel reinforcing. But of these only a bone can heal. Steel is the strongest .
Q:A roll of 1 meters wide color steel roll about how many tons?
In general, between 3.5 and 5 tons. Our company uses 0.17*1000 white color steel roll. The weight is usually around 4.5 tons. Different manufacturers will have different sealing rolls.
Q:Decorating stainless steel refrigerators?
Elmers, the glue maker, make stuff called Tack Adhesive Putty. It looks like a stick of kids clay or silly putty, but you tear off pieces of it and stick them to the fridge. Then stick your pictures to the putty! Works great and comes off easily.
Q:Fire resistant steel?
Gavin, the danger posed by steel columns and girders during a fire in a building, is not the danger of the steel melting but of the steel expanding and snapping the bolts that hold all of the steel together. Very high temperatures can be achieved in a building fire because the up-draft caused by the rising hot air, delivers a massive amount of oxygen to the burning carpet, paper and furniture. When a steel frame office tower burns, the heat expands the steel and snaps the bolts. This causes the building to fall-down and not necessarily, burn-down. I am too lazy to look-up the melting point of steel but it is not very high. That is one reason for the columns and girders in steel framed buildings, to be covered in asbestos (which is a fatally toxic material) or magnesium di-oxide.
