I have a 2000 dodge 1500 the water pump is leaking and the belt is real squeaky. Are these related?
pump quites or slows causing overheating or heat increased in the motor causing the belt to wear more on the hot pullys get a new pump or fix it and just replace the belt
I recently bought a 01 firebird trans am. was doing some maintenance on it. basic stuff, tune up, serpentine belt, break flush, and a coolant flush. I didn't notice any leakage in the car, and neither did any mechanics before. Last week when i did all these basic maintenance i went back to check up on one more thing. The mechanic raised my car up and asked when I'm replacing my water pump.Seeing that it was leaking...but the liquid wasn't green, more or less brown and it didn't have any particular smell, but its not coming from the oil pan. What I'm thinking is that maybe the hoses were completely tightened? All help would be appreciated! thank you!
Usually when a water pump goes bad,it either makes an obnoxious noise from bad bearings or you'll notice coolant seeping or dripping from the little weep hole on it.Seems like it didn't get flushed properly or the brown colored coolant you're noticing was there already before you done work on it.Pressure wash the engine to make things easier to see.Seems like the car would be overheating a little if the pump was completely gone out.Its a good idea to replace things like this on higher mileage cars to avoid bein stranded on the side of the road
There is a loud squeecking noise coming from the water pump and the serpentime belt isnt loose!I dont know how long it would take a mechanic to do the job?
type into search box how to replace water pump how to replace water pump s-10 how to replace water pump chevy about two to four hours maybe depending on mechanic and how busy the shop is and before you go and start replacing water pump if its not leaking its not bad yet and most likely will be a bad pulley or belt tension-er which go bad before water pump most of time you can spray water or wd40 on pulley to check if motor not running hot and you dont see any coolant coming from water pump most likey not bad belt tension-er pulley cost about 30 bucks anyone can replace in about 30 minutes
If a person took a water pump and attached to a hose and ended up with (random numbers) 15 gpm and 30 psi at the end of the hose, what would happen if you put an exact same pump right next to it and hooked the two pumps together with a quot;Yfitting to a single hose? Would both the gpm and psi be doubled, or neither, or just one? What would happen?
GPM would double assuming you don't try to push more water through the hose than it can handle. Pressure you can control by squeezing down on the hose. They are related V1 * P1 = V2 * P2 V = volume P = Pressure
Recently my ford aerostar van started pouring water from the weephole of the waterpump and all my oil was just disappearing leaving just foam on the dipstick...we drained what oil was in it and there was antifreeze in the oil so we figured it was a blown head but it it possible for antifreeze to leak into the oil due to a bad waterpump?
sounds like both? the weep hole is a sign the bushing on water pump shaft is wore out so a new pump or a rebuils is necessary. the foam in oil is worrisome!!head gasket first !hopefully not a ring or piston problem? if you have an extremely high mileage van and can do so? dump it!!get another, cheaper in the long run?
water pump has small leak
Remove the pump and remove the harden rubber gasket all around it and put a permanently elastic sealing compound/sealing compound then reinstall the pump, good luck!
looking for the comparison and then finaly the conclusion about the water pumps instaaled in the IC engines. Where we should stick to the tradional mechanical driven water pumps or electrical water pumps? which one is better!! any information/ response is appreciated
Mechanically driven water pumps run off of a belt on the front of the engine to drive them where-as an electrical water pump is run by you guessed it electricity. Belt driven water pumps are much more common with electrically driven pumps usually used for high performance car so as not to rob horsepower from the engine by the force it requires to drive the pump.
I just replaced my water pump.fixed.. A week later I've been noticing he might of over filled it because.were the coolant goes.steam comes.out.the little.while plus water.. And.before.I.started my.car I noticed.it was all empty now and my.engine sounds like a mini diesel when it runs.. What's the deal? And I.already filled it up with coolant again
Anytime you replace your water pump. You should replace the thermostat and gasket. Also check the upper and lower radiator hoses to see if either one of them are collapsed. It wouldn't hurt to replace the radiator cap.
